Hi all,

I posted this just before the great crash, obviously it is gone now. I am looking for thoughts on a good Mopar machine shop/ builder for a 1970 340 I recently acquired. It is for the Duster I bought with it, I have lot's of work to do on the body, but want to see what I have to work with on the block. I have it torn down, it doesn't look like it has run in a long time, did have a broken valve, but I can' see any visual damage. Just before the crash I had 3 responses-
Havana Machine- thanks MoparMike
The Block Shop- can't remember the name
Ridge Reamers- can't remember that one either

Just to recap, not looking to build a race engine, but not stock either-- sketchy thoughts, deck the block, balance it, cam up a bit, either new or port the J heads I have, Air Gap intake, TTI headers and exhaust.

Thanks in advance, any thoughts appreciated!

Cheers,
Tim

have all my stuff done at the block shop, race and stock. Are you building yourself or have them build it?

Thanks for all the input, I think I will be using Ridge Reamers, seemed to get on well with them when I visited. As to the other, I will be doing the build, but first thing first just want to get it a good going over. Prolly gonna need a couple years to get the body in order, so slow but sure on the engine!
Cheers

Pete does great machine work, but always seems to take a lot longer than he originally tells you. How did he do for you?

yep, pete does top notch stuff, and is very busy most times..........things can get backed up.

i'm planning on taking a 340 block to him to check in the near future........i was told by a friend that when he takes stuff to him, he'll try to put a good chunk of change up front, and this usually helps things along......i'll see what happens when i do this.........

I know this is an older post but have to say what an awesome job Pete and Bryce do at Ridge Reamer. They put bronze bushings in my lifter bores and all came out perfect. They also did all the other machine work on the block, crank, rods etc. They do take a few weeks to get stuff done but when you want great work I will gladly wait. Thank you Ridge Reamer.

Just tossing a suggestion... if you need cylinder head work I'd recommend Colorado Custom Cylinder Head run by Gary DeWerth, super polite and knowledgeable elderly gentlemen who's been doing this stuff for 50+ years.
