Engine masters just did an 03 with ported heads, cam, and throttle body with a stock bottom end (not rebuilt) and made 475 or 485, I cant remember the exact number.

Well thats kind of your answer right there. Without getting overly exotic (aka-expensive) If engine builders took a early 5.7, and ported the heads, cammed it, and put an aftermarket TB on it...and got 480 ish. What else do you think you're going to do to it to beat that? What do you think it costs to port a set of heads?

The factory 6.1 made 420.
the eagle makes 370-390 pending tuning/intake. and makes 480 ish with a cam/springs.
the 6.4 makes 480-490.

I think you'd be super lucky to match engine builders. Unless as stated you get into a stroker rotating assembly, or at least a point of compression via pistons, but at that point you're flirting with race gas. That 500 HP mark is a real dividing line between Happy on the street, and happier at the strip. In my opinion. This is why alot of guys go forced induction...but thats another animal entirely.
