The money pit begins.... My pops 72H car.....

-
As promised here are more photos of the car. It took someone reverse psychology on my part Lol but my pops is on board with just getting this thing road worthy at a minimal expense and then selectively pick small projects on the car that can be worked on. Alot of the deteriorated parts have already been replaced with my donor car. We do have plans to change the interior and I think it will really help the color of the car out lol...

That is some surface rust for sure! Was this a factory undercoated car?

No, it was not.... Untouched as far as we know.... It seems to clean up fairly easy but what the future holds for the metal is a whole different story. The car needed to be tended to about 10 years ago IMO....

JW

Yea, I get that. At least it is cleaning up easily. Hopefully not pitted and heaven forbid all the way through!

Hi Slopar72,

I believe it is a GM windshield washer bottle. I pulled these pix off classic industries website. Bottle and bracket are repops $9, and $8 respectively. I guess if you decide on a new coolant recovery bottle while restoring it back to the way your dad modified it in its heyday, its cheap enough. I was going to go with a hyundai tiburon coolant recovery tank for my cuda, but the GM tank looks almost factory right there in the fender.

Oh he was on a budget so cheap would have been the way to go.... I will keep this in mind if I can't get it clean. I am fine with where it is and how it looks....

Thanks,
JW

Not many pictures but lots of progress.....

Brakes, cooling, exhaust, fuel system, tranny lines, completed Console Shift conversion, and cleaning as we go along. I put time limits on how much time would be spent on cosmetics. Maybe some pictures by the end of next weekend when it rolls out the garage for a short burst down the road...

Well, here it sits waiting on a set of Calipers. The Fuel Gauge is the only thing not operating on it and that is something aft the harness plug in the Kickpanel so that will wait until I swap out the Columns. I even found the Twister sticker slated for the Tail Panel in the old Glove Box over the weekend was able to put it on the car without destroying it (late 80's and baking in a car did not make it an easy task.)

I will take some shots of it and maybe a video next weekend. My dad is ready to wheel this thing big time lol....

That is the wrong sticker for your H code 340 Duster.....It should say Duster 340 with the twister looking character.....Be proud and be correct.....hahaha....I'm really digging that color.

Lol..... You think that sticker is wrong wait until I slam an LS in it lol......

Thanks,
JW
Do you want to put your old man in his grave? That car is sweet the way it sits.....Change the interior over to black and put the right sticker on the back...hahaha.... and be done with it and enjoy it.....hahaha.

one of those things in life you just can't buy.
