I have a steering column out of a 68 Barracuda. I want to remove the steering wheel. Do I need a puller to do so? I never removed one before, and I am a little puzzled. Any help would be much appreciated.
use a puller, or make one,,in my younger days I pulled one off by hand while in the car and nearly broke my nose when she came off. learned that lesson the hard way. with a puller they come off easy.
Breaking a nose is a possibility but breaking the steering wheel is another real strong one. A puller is cheap, or as mentioned, one can be made easily with some scrap metal and a few bolts.
Also you can usually borrow a puller from a parts store like autozone or advanced auto. They usually require a deposit that you get back when you return it.
