I would like to put an 8 3/4 with disc brakes in my 1968 Barracuda. I haven't done much research yet, but when the subject would come up on here I would see that you would need to remove the stock tapered roller bearings and install the "green" bearings. Has anyone come across a disc brake kit that you can keep the stock type bearings?

Almost forgot, I'll be using 11.75" rotors in the front. So the rear disc should be equal or smaller in diameter.

I wouldn't recommend it, to much side play in axles will cause a low pedal.

Doctor Diff's rear disk set ups can be used with the stock tapered bearings. They're a little more expensive than some of the other rear disk conversions out there, but like with pretty much everything else Cass sells they're high quality parts that IMO are worth a little more money. And I prefer the tapered bearings over the green bearings myself, but that's just my preference. Cass wrote a little article/explanation on the green bearings vs. tapered bearings. It's good info, but I myself still like the tapered style and adjusting them is a piece of cake once you've done it a couple times. Why Green Bearings? - Quality Body Shop Drivetrain

Here's his 10.7" kit, he has an 11.7" kit as well if you're already running larger front disks.

Why not? Tapered roller bearings are a better design than the "green" ball bearings.
to much side play in axles will push the pistons back and give you a low pedal, green bearings have no side play.

Member dodgedifferent2 makes a bracket kit that lets you use readily available 1994-2004 base Mustang rotors and calipers and keep your tapered axles bearings. You must use LBP axles (not re-drilled SBP axles). I used shortened/re-splines LBP axles with the brake set-up installed on an A Body 8.75 ready to install in my 65 art wagon. Side note: I also found LBP 14 inch Magnum 500's will clear the calipers.

Depends on how the rear disks are mounted. Most of the rear disk kits out there specify they must be used with green bearings because of the way the calipers are mounted. Axle play, if it's adjusted properly, isn't an issue for the kits that can be used with tapered bearings. Maybe @DoctorDiff will chime in with more info on his kit.

I bought the Doc Diff kit. It is top quality. Replacment parts are off the shelf local parts store. I would recommend it 100%

Thank you for the nice compliment. Always thought a 4 wheel disk 72 Dart would look Bad ***. So I did one. Cass has nice stuff.

The Doctor Diff kit looks good. Now I just need to find a B-body 8 3/4", lol.

Would the 11.7" rear rotors be to much when paired with the 11.75" front rotors? Would it really make a difference? I'll be using an adjustable proportioning valve.
