Just finished my install of the wilwood kit on my 8.8. I thought I had ordered a kit to run the calipers in front of the axle, but maybe not. Regardless that's how I set it up, and now the parking brake bracket faces the rear. I'm assuming with longer cables I could just run the cables to the backside of the axle and connect them, but that seems sloppy.

It seems like this kit would work to basically flip the parking brake hook and cable hole:

Wizard Brackets - Reverse TJ Style Parking Brake Cables

Thoughts on the two solutions?

Edit, now that I think about it, running the cables to the back can't work as pulling the brake will just take up slack in the cable, duh.

The way I read it, the calipers were supposed to be at the rear. If/when they are moved to front the addition "kit" is req'd. So switch the brakes around to have calipers at rear or order the kit.
I gather that makes more sense than the trail and error process of longer cables.

Maybe I'm just being lazy but I don't wanna! It means having to remove the axles, re loctite things, etc. Also I would prefer to have the calipers in front of the axle to keep the brake lines away from the shocks, but maybe I shouldn't care about that. I dunno, $65 for a kit sounds really good to me after picking around with this kit for the past two days trying to get it to work lol

Oh and one more note, the parking brake units were labelled R and L, and I installed them right to passengers side, left to drivers side.

Fine dangit...I'll just tear it all down and flip it the right way. I just hope the loctite hasn't set too much, its been 10 hours

Aftermarket parts are often marked incorrectly, or even made incorrectly. Unfortunately, that's part of life... especially when you are dealing with old Mopars.

Not saying, but normally when I have an issue like that on mine, it usually comes out to be mechanics error. That would be my error. But that is just me

I will triple check the markings are like I thought, but I was careful. But even if they are on the wrong sides, when I swap them that will put the calipers behind the axles. Not a big deal but not what I ordered

Weirdest thing. I had the one marked LH on the drivers side, and RH on passengers side. So theoretically that was correct, assuming the top of the axle is the side with the vent tube. Maybe I'm losing my mind lol

Nope you have not lost your mind. LH is always driver side, RH is always passenger side. Unless you are dealing with some British/Aussie stuff... then who knows?

My son and I got it swapped out. Teachable moment and I got to save my back.
