1969 Dart Street/Strip (Re)Build

hey Clint , have u thot about buying a fiberglas hood w/ the 6 pack scoop built in to it? that`s what I did, and the body man painted it w/ the car. looks pretty darn good. but, I thot the car looked racier when it was flat black before. also , a fiberglass hood is a pain in the a$$ setting around in the garage while ur working on the car. I bought mine out of a place in Cal., was $500 shipped, about 4 yrs. ago.

A bolt on hood from AAR is $625. A pin on hood (which is what I would switch to) is $525. I don't believe they offer free shipping on those items either. Then there's the hood pins, which, the ones I want are $300 per pair (Quik Latch) so that would be $600. Looking at the minis since they are much cheaper at $30 a piece, but I'm not sure why. I wouldn't go with the old school style pin setup. Just don't like them. They rust, scratch from the pins being installed and removed, then they just look like chit. Personal preference. Then there's the sanding and painting costs and possibly pin installation costs if I can't do it myself (my buddy had someone else install his Quik Latch pins). So you can see how I'd EASILY be getting $1000 into a hood. With all the other stuff I've been buying for the car like new front bumper, new tail light bezels, shaving the marker lights, getting hood sprayed, all the equipment for polishing the stainless, new rollers and installation costs for the rear quarter windows, I have to stop somewhere. It's easy for people to say to buy a new hood, but no one is financing my car but me and no one else sees how much I'm spending in other areas. I suppose if someone wanted to help me finance it and throw $500 in my account towards a new hood, that would be awesome!
