Good God Man, get a hold of Yourself!!! Geeezus, this is like 101 for any .500" lift neighborhood cam on any stock head, esp. w/PC style seals. It's so easy to correct it's not
funny, just do it...........Goodson,Crane Cams,Comp Cams, all sell these cutters w/the pilot You choose for the dia. guide You have. There are guide OD reducing cutters for ones
that don't have PC's to accept them, spotface/counterbore style for shortening only, and multi cut for any & all of the above.

I went with the Comp Cam at .506 lift on my magnum 360 with EQ heads and it works fine with the better springs and retainer.

the cam card shows valve lift with a 1.6 rocker-lobe lift .335" x 1.6 = .536". with the lifter angle loss, actual lift will be about .520". try a different seal or cut the valve guide down
This is what I'm saying, but I think more like .510...cut the guide.
 
Sorry to bring this up again but I had the valve covers off my magnum to paint, so I took one of the valve springs off and I have .600" from the top of the valve seal to the bottom most part of the retainer. Is this enough room for a higher lift cam?

The guy I bought my motor from had work done to it but passed so I couldn't ask him.
 
Well we know cutting the guides down with the rite cutter would "fix" the clearance issues! BUT your not doing that withe heads on the motor!

Then take um off. These ain't Lambos we're talkin about here.
 
If the "bottom most part of the retainer" is also lower than the lower most edge of the keepers; and the "top of the valve seal is representative of ALL the seals; then .600 less .030 =.570 lift, the suggested maximum lift. How you get there is up to you. That is to say what lobe lift to use will need to be back-calculated to allow for the rocker arm effective ratio and the lift-loss from the pushrod angle.
In light of the above; .525 valve lift seems pretty conservative, and .525 advertised yet more so, cuz the advertised is not likely to be the true. After the cam is in, and at least two rockers are mocked up, you can measure the actual lift and seal to retainer clearance and spring installed height,and then you can adjust the installed height to achieve whatever the cam guy wants it to be with the springs he says to use, and finally check for coil-bind.
And don't forget to adjust the pushrod length for lifter preload,and
to check the geometry, and
don't forget about piston to valve clearance!

And if it was a hemi-headed motorcycle engine, you would also have check for valve-to-valve clearance.
