I have a 68 Barracuda Formulas that I need the power steering gearbox and power steering pump rebuilt. I want mine rebuilt and not replaced with another one.

Thanks for your help
Glenn

I've had Steer and Gear do 2 of mine PS boxes. Dropped one at Carlisle last year and picked up the rebuild at the Mopar Nationals - save on shipping that heavy SOB each way!

I would have to add my vote for Steer and Gear. They rebuilt my power steering box and did an excellent job.

Funny a new place just opened up in town. Never dealt with them. Looks like they specialize in big rigs.
I may pay them a visit and see if they do water pumps as well.

What is the difference between the firm feel and a standard rebuild of the existing gearbox?

With Firm Feel, Steer and Gear and others, they will rebuild your stock PS box to stock specs (virtually no change from the stock, no road feel as the original). Then on the stage 1, 2 or 3 they beef it up internally to give you progressively more more road feel. The stage 3 is most like a modern car. Although not yet installed in my Dart wagon, I went with stage 3. If it's anything like my Challenger, I will be very happy.

Are the PS units difficult to rebuild? I need to do mine but it's no show piece and I'm in no rush. I have a FSM and it shows a rebuild job so???
I had my T/A manual box done by firm feel and they did a good job. Shipping is nuts imo.

Cardone industries will rebuild both. Take it to a NAPA or O'Reilly store and they will sent them off to be repaired and returned (R & R) in about 7-10 day.

I was going to mention that NAPA still has a listing for P/S boxes. Last time I checked they were $125.00 exchange.

I work for Cardone and car recommend the process.

Can they guarantee that I will get back the same units that I sent in? I want to keep my original ones. Thanks
Cardone Internal policy states they can use new integral components but if they have to substitute a part that changes the outward appearance of the unit they need permission first.

If you send anything off to Cardone that is near and dear to you be Sure you tag your part like your favorite dog. Put your name and phone number on it with clear instructions on what you will and will not accept. Worst case you will only have to pay freight if it is returned to you.

Thank you

Why not get the factory service manual and do it yourself? It will save you money and you'll learn something new.
