66 Valiant /6 225. Engine runs great, but after it's completely warmed up it starts to buck/surge while driving down the highway at all speeds and at idle,.it's a little rough. It seems to me it's like the ignition is shutting down intermittently or fuel? Anything anyone can think of to check?
Thank you....

Fuel line running too close to the exhaust and boiling your gas after things start to get warmed up? Could be an almost plugged fuel filter as well, what all have you looked into?

Fuel percolation. I think our member Slantsixdan has a fix for that.

Thank you. The fuel filter is new. Hopefully Slantsixdan will chime in.

My truck did that, it was fuel starvation due to a plugged filter. Does it idle fine when warm? Its probably not your new filter but vapor lock as stated. reroute your fuel line farther from the exhaust as Dan has noted. And maybe check your temperature of your coil when warm. It should not be burn your hand hot

You might find the solution at slant6.org too.

Hmmm? Very strange. The 1695 carb has constant vacuum at the vacuum advance port. With that said, it's always advanced. I unhooked and plugged the port on the carb (I haven't taken it out for a ride yet), but believe it or not it seems to be running better at idle then it was when the vacuum advance was hooked up. Anyone know why it would have constant vacuum at that port? That can't be a good thing!!
