Yeah, I got a few myself I'll have to contend with...... Rani gets all the plus plus. She'll get a "boat" load of time giving to her between that heavy wagon and altitude....I don't like all the penalties I get! LOL

Most folks will have to give time before they ever stage.... ends up folks will be racing against their own time, and the better they do, the better they will be in the standings.
Like I said, a generic "penalty box" to semi-level the playing field. I've got real interest in that Wagon, can't wait to see what that does

Hey 318willrun how you like that summit k50052 cam? I'm thinking of ordering one of my car ever makes it out of the transmission shop. Lol. It's been there like 2 weeks.
Honestly, for the money it's a good cam. I think it would appreciate a little more gear and stall than what I have. I have 2.76 gears and a stock converter. I would say at least 3.23 gears with a 2400 stall converter would really make a world of difference.
Of course, you can add low end by advancing the valve timing 4*, or raising the compression.
The 318 2bbl I sold that was in the b-body had more snap from 0-30 mph. But I will say, once it's rolling it feels like a stock 340. I hit about 94 mph with a 2.4 60 ft time, so that's kind of a tell-all story. I imagine if it had headers she'd really pull around 5300 rpm's.
If I had to do it again, I would cut the heads .030 for a little more compression and advance the timing set 4*, I bet those two small things would really help it out off the line.
I'll soon get my car to the scale and get a weight, then I'll go through the list and do my deductions. I'll post what my car is suppose to run for a live example.

I'll have to find a scale. Maybe the local landfill can do it. And I'm fat so are we doing weight of just car or car and driver?

!I have it listed as just the car. If the racers want to include driver, they can chime in... yeah, landfill, feedgrain, truck stop.... If someone can't get their car to a scale, most tracks will have one.
If no scale is possible, then just research the cars weight
just for the record, if the rest of the racers want to add driver weight, then the "nominal car" (TDC) will have to move the 3300 lbs to 3500 lbs, give lets say 200 lbs for the driver. See what response we get.

Vehicle must have current vehicle registration; license and a valid proof of insurance (must have all documentation with you at time of technical inspection). Cars can be brought into the speedway on trailers and must be unloaded in the pit area prior to the tech inspection. All vehicles must enter off of Cherry Avenue. The speedway is located at 9300 Cherry Avenue, Fontana.
Driver
Must have valid state driver's license, sign the Release of Liability Form and adhere to all NHRA rules as required in the NHRA Rule Book. No shorts, bare legs, tank-tops, bare torsos, or bare feet permitted when racing.
Anyone under 18 years of age must have a parental permission form completed to race. The form must be signed by both parents unless one parent has sole custody, in that case one signature will be accepted. If the parent(s) are not present on race day, the form must be notarized and submitted at registration. The form must be an original, no photo copies or faxes accepted.
Occupants
No more than one person is permitted in any car during any run except one co-driver permitted in 14-second (*8.60) and slower E.T.cars. The occupant must sign the Release of Liability Form. No shorts, bare legs, tank-tops, bare torsos, or bare feet permitted.
10-Second Rule
There is a 10-second flat ET rule. No cars quicker than 10 seconds will be allowed. (If you need an NHRA Competition License to drive your car at an NHRA Drag Strip, it is too quick for Auto Club Dragway during a Street Legal event.)
Helmet
Required in all vehicles 13.99 seconds and quicker. Helmet must meet NHRA approved SNELL rating and must have required label on the inside of the helmet. SNELL 2010 good until 1-1-2022. SNELL 2015 good until 2027. D.O.T. ONLY HELMETS ARE NOT LEGAL.
Protective Clothing
A NHRA approved jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2/1 is mandatory when running: 13.99 to 10.00 , in a non-factory stock supercharger, non-OEM turbocharger, or nitrous equipped with an OEM or .024 -inch steel firewall vehicle; or 11.49 to 10.00 in a naturally aspirated, OEM supercharged, or OEM turbocharged with full OEM or .024-inch steel firewall vehicle.
NOTE: All Unaltered 2008 OEM model-year and newer vehicle drivers must meet the Summit Racing Series helmet and protective-clothing requirements.
VEHICLE
No water, fuel, oil, or trans leaks.
Electronics
No aftermarket electronic devices allowed (throttle stops, delay boxes, etc.)
Exhaust
Must be routed through street legal muffler(s). All runs will be monitored on a decibel meter (84db at 100" from the strip). If it is too loud you will not be allowed to run. NO EXCEPTIONS! It is your responsibility.
Tires
Approved racing slicks are permitted, as well as street legal DOT approved tread tires, front and rear required on all vehicles. Tires will be inspected for overall condition.
Wheels
All wheel studs, with lug nuts required. Broken or missing studs/lugs must be replaced before racing. Hub caps/wheel covers must be removed for inspection.
Lines & Hoses
All fuel, transmission, brake, and power steering lines must be secure and free of leaks. Neoprene fuel lines limited to 12" overall.
Fuel System
All fuel-tank filler necks located inside trunk must have filler neck vented outside of body. Vented caps prohibited. All batteries, fuel line, fuel pumps, or filler necks located inside trunk require complete bulkhead of at least .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum to isolate driver compartment from trunk, if there is no bulkhead between fuel cell and driver you will not go down the track. Fuel lines must be located outside driver compartment. Fuel tank must be within confines of the body.
Radiator
Overflow catch tank (16 oz. minimum) mandatory on all vehicles and no leaks.
Seats
Must be securely fastened to floor or frame with minimum 4 attaching bolt and nuts. No sheet metal screws.
Seat Belts
All cars and trucks must have as a minimum an O.E.M. type lap belt system, securely mounted to frame or floor. Cars and Trucks running 11.49 and quicker and/or in convertibles running 13.49 and quicker must have seat belts SFI 16.1 and a minimum 5 point roll bar. See NHRA roll bar requirements.
Batteries
Batteries must be secured per O.E.M. or with minimum of two (2) 3/8 diameter bolts (no straps, bungee cords, wire, etc). Batteries may not be located in the driver or passenger compartment. The master power cutoff switch must be installed at the rearmost part of the vehicle and be easily accessible from the outside of the rear body and must stop all electrical functions. Ballast
Loose ballast is not permitted on the racetrack, so be prepared to empty trunks and interiors of all loose items. Spare tires, jacks, etc. must be securely mounted or must be removed. Tools, jack stands, coolers, loose speakers, wheel covers, etc. are considered loose ballast and are not permitted on the track. If you don't need it, or don't want to leave it unattended, leave it at home.
Neutral Safety Switch
All vehicles must be equipped with an operational neutral safety switch. The neutral safety switch prevents the vehicle's starter from turning the engine over unless the transmission is in park or neutral (or unless the clutch pedal is depressed with a manual transmission).

Bottles must be stamped as meeting DOT 1800-pound standards and must be securely bolted to the frame or floor (no bungee cords, hose clamps, etc.) All fittings, hoses, etc. must be compatible from same manufacturer, and vented to outside of driver compartment.

Cars running slower than 10.00 and 134 mph do not have to meet any vehicle Summit Racing Series requirements. Convertibles and T-tops must meet the Summit Racing Series roll-bar and roll-cage requirements. NOTE: See helmet and protective clothing requirements.
NOTE: When elapsed times are quicker than 11.49 specialized racing equipment is required. For example, when a roll bar or cage is required, so is an approved 5-point harness assembly. If you know or suspect that your vehicle will exceed these ET limits, we suggest contacting the NHRA Tech Department at (626) 914-4761 with your questions.
MOTORCYCLES
Must be registered for the street, front and rear brakes, chain guards, ignition cutoff switch, and functioning snap-back throttle mandatory. Any pressurized container (air shift and nitrous bottles) must be stamped as DOT 1800 pound standards. Leather jacket, gloves, and leather (above ankle) shoes mandatory (up to 119 mph; over this speed full leather is required with a metal 360 zipper at the waist).
AFTER TECH INSPECTION
Move your car forward (please turn off car before exiting), walk to the "Tech Registration booth" where you will sign a Release of Liability, get your restricted area wristband. Upon completed registration, your vehicle should have a run card/sticker and a car number applied to your windows. You may now find yourself a pit location (10 X 20) max per car.
Hear the Call
Tune your car radio to 104.9 FM for the PA announcements. All categories will be called to the staging lanes in groups of 100. The group number is on your run card. Please DO NOT come to the lanes until your category is called. Be sure you have all safety items in place with seat belts on.
Staging Lanes
When you are called to the lanes, go to the back of the staging lanes and you will be directed to a lane. At the front of the lane your run card/sticker will be marked. Please proceed forward as directed.
Burn-Out/Staging
You will be directed to the water box where a 5 second burn-out is permitted. On the starting line official's signal, roll your car forward until the top two small yellow bulbs on your side of the tree are lit. STOP. You are now staged and ready. When the tree is activated, you will see 3 amber bulbs flash .500 seconds apart then GREEN. Try to leave on the last amber bulb for a better reaction time but be careful not to leave too early or you will red-light.
Finish Line
After crossing the finish line, let off the gas slowly and apply the brakes. Stay in your lane and exit at the top end of the track, The right lane should exit first even though you may have to wait on them. DO NOT DO A U-TURN ON THE TRACK.

Don't know about your track, but here are the common requirements for almost every track:
Battery secured (factory hold down ok)
Radiator overflow (factory ok, and I've even used a empty quart of oil jug with a hose stuck in it)
Two throttle return springs
All lug nuts fastened/no hub caps
Helmet IF faster than 13.99 but slower than 11.49 (unless convertible, then helmet required regardless. Helmet needs to be snell 2010 at least)
Fuel hose cannot be longer than 12 inches
Jeff, you can just tell them that it's a 318 and you've never ran it, but it might not go faster than high 14's. This will get you 1 pass without the jacket/helmet

I expect to run mid-13s...I hope! It's my reaction time I'm unsure of because I've never done this before.....
Reaction time will have NO input on the cars E.T. Your time starts when the car leaves the "beams". Reaction time only has a impact on class guys (like bracket racers).
I'm surprised at the required SFI jacket. Sounds like your strip has "special needs", due to where it is.
Also, a lot of drag strips don't like nylon oil line for aftermarket oil gages. I'll upload a video of inspection, maybe tonight or tomorrow.
Virtually, if you have your: battery anchored, two throttle springs, radiator overflow, factory or better seat belts, all lug nuts on, no leaks to speak of, I've never been denied in tech on a street car like ours.
Maybe you could find a friend to loan ya a helmet/jacket.....
Cool....didn't know that about the reaction times...
Other than an overflow bottle, it sounds like I'm in good shape.....
