I am going to pick up a 72 Duster 318 2v auto this weekend. I need to go buy a battery for it and was wondering if anyone knew the group number for the correct size and post placement? I tried the autozone lookup thing and it shows several different groups..

Here's what the '72 Plymouth service manual has listed. The posts are on top towards the side.

This is from the '73 Dodge manual...

Standing in front of the car. Posts are to right side with Pos' away, Neg' to you. I want to say 'F' type but my memory fails. Hope this helps

Yep 24 series, no F. F is for Ford and the posts are reversed

So glad I'm not alone here :) I think my having worked at a Ford dealership for 4 years is a decent excuse for my error. Happy moparing

I tried to work on fords for a while, they just baffle me how they do things!
FORD = FORGIVE OUR RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

I just got a new battery from O'reilys. I basically have the same car as yours 71 318.
The battery that the computer screen on the battery display is spot on. its a 3 year about $124

Just off the top of my head, I think it was the 24EXTJ
