426 hemi info : new to big blocks

Open to bore up to a conventional dimension for piston availability, ie 4.280, 4.310 etc so there's life for rebuilds without sleeving the block, then buy a 4.25 or 4.5" crank for the cubes, which makes compression simpler. For example, a 4.31 bore x 4.5 stroke gives 525 CI. You're gonna get hosed on a custom/semi custom piston no matter what, I'd spec for a 7.100 rod and a .990 pin and see if I can keep a little weight out of the piston, maybe keep it under 700gms or so.

I guess the real question is what parts do you have already besides the heads and block? S/F....Ken M
