Yes, how you handle the carb while disconnected can alter the accelerator pump linkage too.
A doubled throttle return spring is recommended as a fail safe.
Im no engineer but been a mechanic for a long time and i think its a b.s. design...this set up will wear out the throttle shaft bushings sooner than any other carb ive seen
