Hello, I'm changing my '71 Swinger rear end from 7 1/4 to 8 3/4. Does anyone know if I can use the drums, backing plates etc... from the 7 1/4 on the 8 3/4? Thanks!

No,the bolt pattern is different but you can use use diplomat, truck and van rear plates up to 94 and drill the extra hole.

Could you elaboratemore @Sedanman. I have a van I plan on taking g the rear end out of for a swap under my dart. What back plate and drill what extra hole. Maybe the op knows what you mean but I dont lol. No need to make a new thread when this one is already going g in a similar direction. That is if the op don't mind

8 1/4 and 9 1/4 vans.trucks and diplomat brakes will swap onto any 8 3/4. The only difference is the lower axle bolt missing on 8 1/4 and 8 3/4 backing plates. What year van is the axle from? It's going to be too wide for the Dart and your going to have to narrow it.

I have a 78 b100 super slant six. I didn't check the rear end at the time if it's 8 1/4 or 3/4
Also have a 76 sportsman 300 with a 9 3/4 Dana 60 a727 trans and a tore down 360. But that rear end is over kill for a slant lol
I bought them both in December I think and still haven't picked them up due to moving to a different area and the fact that it's hard to get a friend to help move and borrow a big enough trailer when you only have a few friends in the area to begin with lol
