Wow - did not occur to me that a '69 hood latch would be that different. My '68 latch is very different!

No opening in 69 grills to reach through like 67-68, you have to reach in behind the license plate.

Got the US Car Tool Core Support adjustable sides cut and welded in flush.
Had 1.5 inches added to the bottom to allow the new 26" Champion Radiator to sit a little lower.

Touched up the silver in the lens with the same rattle can paint sprayed onto some cardboard and then brushed on with a little fine point brush.

Working on getting the correct dimensions for a Dr. Diff Custom 8-3/4 Housing and axles for the fish.
Set the old leaf springs up with the Dr. Diff .5" offset hangers and set the 17x9 year one wheels in the wheel wells where I thought they would look good. Not having a housing that has the perches in the right location, I just set the B-Body housing that came with the car in there to get the wheels eyeballed.
With the car resting on the old leaf springs and the springs resting on jack stands I got the center of the axle housing just a touch lower than the center hole of the wheels. Figure that it will sit a little lower than an empty shell...
Moved the tires around until I got them where they have clearance from the springs on the inside and from the wheel opening inner lips on the outside.
Measures 56.5" from back of wheel to back of wheel.
Going to give Cass the measurements, my Cherokee Rear Disc Brake setup and have him build me an 8-3/4 to fit.
Here is a couple views of the mock-up...

Got my axles from Dr Diff and took the 8-3/4 in to Bill Scribner to have it narrowed, new perches, add a drain plug, clean up the factory welds, move the brake line clips to the front for a cleaner look.

Picked up my transmission from Pat Blais.
Basicly a Hemi 727 in a 727-A Torqueflite
Reversed-pattern, full-manual valve body
10-3/4" Chrysler High Stall Torque Converter.
Cleaned it up and painted it with some Alumi-Blast.
The Mopar Deep Stamped Steel Pan is natural steel so I think I will spray it clear to keep it from rusting.

Painted our narrowed 8-3/4 housing Gloss Black. Now we can start putting it together to get it installed.

Changed direction with the engine.
Decided to go with a Remanufactured SRT-8 6.1 Hemi
Was planning on a Pace 5.7 Crate motor but they quit selling them when Johnny left.
Not a lot of progress lately but hope to build a little momentum this fall and winter.

Here it is.
They have to take it off the pallet and disconnect all the extra stuff that I did not want or need.
Just wanted the complete engine. Zero mile remanufactured 06 SRT-8 6.1

Maybe I'll do mine like this.

Got my US Car Tool K-Member Stand/Cart put together today.
I had to modify it a little to fit my QA1 K-Member.
I utilized the Sway Bar Mounting holes on the K and a couple extra parts to mount the K on the stand by the sway bar mounts.
It centers the K better. Had to ream out the holes in the K for the Hotchkis Strut bar bushings to fit.
Killed 2 Harbor Freight Step Bits in the process.
I test fit the UCA and strut bars. Probably take them off before trying to set the engine on it.
Now to get the engine on it. Bought a HF Engine Hoist so I can pick up the engine and set it on the K.
My helper is gone for winter break so it's just me. Mostly just me even when he's here... but I don't mind.
It's good ME time.

I think , if I were going to go to the trouble of putting a gen 3 hemi in an old A body. I`d put the biggest one I could get, think u did the right thing.

Put my new HF Engine Hoist together. Got the engine on the hoist so I can remove the wood shipping braces. Think I will have to change the Pan and Pickup first. Also plan to mod the Passenger Biscuit Mount. If I move the mount to the rear on the QA1 K-Member and cut down the mount itself to shorten it towards the rear, I'll have more room for the dipstick and Oil Filter Adapter and not have to cut down the rubber biscuit.
It got dark and I'm outdoors so more pictures tomorrow.

Looking good, are you keeping the stock engine management system and wiring?
Will be removing the factory harness for MS3 Gold Box and harness. Will change to Cable driven TB.
Going with March Performance Style Track with high mount Alternator and AC compressor, minus the
Power Steering Pump.

Should leave lots of room for the 45* Oil Filter Adapter and Dipstick Tube.

Should leave lots of room for the 45* Oil Filter Adapter and Dipstick Tube.

I helped someone do a 5.7 swap on an A-body 12+ years ago and it may have very well been the first A-body swap. The oil filter adapter he had did not clear the frame itself, I don't think the K-frame was the issue. TTI has a block off plate that I designed for them with O-Rings. On the 5.7L you use the block off plate then there are two pipe thread plugs on the block on the front above where the oil filter adapter bolts on that you pull out. You use the pipe thread holes to tap into the system to run a remote filter.

I see the pipe plug fitting locations I remember on the right side of your picture. Looks like Chrysler used one of the ports for a pressure sensor. The 5.7 I worked on had plugs in both holes.View attachment 1715121529

Thanks.
I think this is what you are describing. From Mancini's web site.

Prefer not to run a remote filter... Not that big a deal, just a preference.
Definitely more work but when you want it the way you want it...

Will the new mount location have enough depth so that the motor mount bolt won't hit the tube thru the k frame? The tube that the lower control arm pin passes thru? Sounds like a good plan if it works out.

Picture angles are deceiving. Here is a better angle.
Measures 2.25" from the top of the tube to the bottom of where the new bolt hole will be.
~ 1.625" from the end of the mount bolt to the tube for clearance.
Couldn't want a stronger point to weld to. Will completely remove the original mount down to the bottom perpendicular tube that runs front to back.
It will look like it was meant to be there all along.
