Any of you know what the likely cause of not getting this transmission out of park in the floor console?? It seems to be in the linkage, not the transmission. Thanks

I am going to add another question to this, when you push the button down on the shift handle, what does the cable actually do? Thanks

With a console shift, it is somewhat common for the sleeve around the button to slide upwards over the years, making it impossible for the little button to go down far enough to release the stick.
Look to the base of the sleeve/handle, grip. You will see a tiny setscrew there. Loosen it, push the sleeve down, and lock it in.
As you do this, keep one eye on the button; you will see it magically rise up out of the grip. Now it will do it's job!

No, you still have to locate the knob and secure it.Really it's no big deal. Once secured with the setscrew, it may be years until it works loose again. IIRC there is a little divot in the shifter-tube,that the setscrew is supposed to engage. You might have to hunt for it a bit. That last time I adjusted one was in the mid 70's .

Ok, thanks..

If it's like 67 up , once u loosen the set screw u will need to push the button down and turn it a turn or 2. Till u can shift it. Kim
