Im in the process of finishing my 340 build and would like to close off all engine openings to avoid dust or critters from entering my motor. I need spark plug selection advice.

My motor is a .040 over stock stroke 340. Aluminum heads, 242/246 solid flat cam, 11:1 compression and I will be going with the FiTech system.

I have always preferred Champion but I've been very pleased with the performance of NGK in recent builds (non mopar). What heat range plugs should I use given the build?

Is NGK still made in Japan? Or have they moved to China too?

I quit using Champion as they're made in China garbage now :(

Autolite 3924's..been using them in my aluminum headed 360 and 416 for over 7 years now..as someone already stated Champions=garbage!!

Thanks for all the input gentleman. No doubt we've all had different experiences with various spark plug brands.

Never had a autolite I liked unless it was in a Ford. Champs in the MoPar work best for me. I'd start with the stock heat range (&/or) minus 1 in your build.

Pfst! What ever work for you! That's the bottom line!

I've said it be for we in another thread, I've u
Used about every brand there is and I've Never had a plug issue that was the plugs fault. Except those SPLIT FIRES .!! Garbage. They all fell apart. Get the correct heat range and run whatever brand you want. I generally put champions or Auto lites in because everyone carrys them

i've never like champions.... have always run autolite or NGK..

just took a set of NGK GR4GP out of the dart.. they seem to cross reference with an autolite 65. i installed set autolite 64 a heat range cooler. not sure what one range cooler NGK is. and the autolites are easier to find around here..
