2017 318 RACE !! .... please join the fun

2 weeks ago i had a new best of 12.23 @ 108, i have been adjusting the jetting, and did go 109mph last week.

My combo is pump gas motor with Edelbrock heads, RPM intake, do not know the cam specs, i believe the carb is a 750.
That is a stout run! What gears/converter?
 
Well the motor is in and the wife has a grin. We're goin to the track and we ain't gonna look back. We're gonna spin our tires til our hearts desires and we'll be havin fun til the day is done....
 
Wait a minute first I have to clean the gutters finished through take my life berry picking and I think a couple other things so stop messing around I got to get going...
 
Okay I did a shake down and took some 8th mile passes last night just to make sure I can drive down there and take passes and drive back home and how much gas it would take and if it would leak and all that kind of stuff. Everything turned out fine no leaks it ran flawlessly and I'm extremely happy. The tires were spinning so bad on the first pass in street tires that I had to take a second pass a lot slower to see what was going on and it just spun massively too. I don't know if it was the track or what? Probably or what!
So since the " Race" is on the honor System I'll have to divulge my rule-breaking ideas. And then if anybody had the same exact setup as I do and they ran something different than I did then they win I'll give them the tiebreaker for sure. I guess what I'm getting at is the Slicks and the DOT Slicks. I'm going to need it explained to me the major advantage I would have using regular slicks over DOT Slicks at this low of horsepower level? obviously the problem becomes spending 4 or $500 to get dot Street slicks. Anyways I'm ready for the quarter mile but I will be putting my slicks on because it's just not safe in street tires. Weather permitting money permitting wife permitting LOL I'll take a quarter mile pass weekend after this one.

No advantage to slicks vs DOT drag radials as far as E.T. It was just to keep all cars "true street cars" that can go for a 20 mile cruise on the highway at 55 mph and not have to Dodge cops :d.

You will go quicker with a Drag Radial than with a slick if you hook. I did a back to back test at the track with M/T 29.5/10.5w and a M/T 315/60 Drag Radial and ran over a tenth faster with the drag radial in the 1/8. It dead hooked with both tires. I do not run slicks any more.
 
Cool, it's proved street ability.

Thank you for the personal experience. For the purpose of this race this info clears my conscience for using slicks. They would not have an advantage over the street ability. That was my main concern. Obviously the car is proving its street credibility and its ability to cruise the freeway or whatever. And there's no sense buying $400 tires to make qualifies for this event. When I have perfectly fine slicks mounted on rims that can do the same thing or maybe not as good.

Figured I'd post my slip. With a 99mph trap speed, I should be able to run my 12.9 dial once I can get it to hook. The M/T bias ply L-60s aren't helping.

So I've been able to take the car down on the track last Saturday to do quarter mile passes with the Slicks. Pass that I'm posting a time slip of for the quarter mile is just me and the car taking qualifying passes to qualify at for a passenger and later took my wife for several passes and picked up a tenth or two, but had way more fun with her in the car!! I'll post a time slip here that has quarter mile pass and the 8th mile that I took on Wednesday night (Wednesday night is 1/8th mile race for points and purse, Friday Saturday night is Just quarter mile run what you brung test and tune) the street tires I bought at the used tire place that where a little bit more performance oriented. I showed up late Wednesday night by myself with the street tires and drove down there and drove home 16 miles each way. I missed my first qualifying pass And you get three so on my first pass which was the second qualifying round I went through the water like of course I'm not supposed to with street tires but I really wanted to break these tires in good. Of course it was a crap show at the starting line. On my last qualifying pass which was my second pass I went around the water did the small burn out and it did okay obviously not as good as the slicks, but not the complete crap show either. It kind of got up and went after a small spin. That time slip is my first round pass and a very nice 66 year old lady in a white camaro beat me! we chatted for a while in line and her whole family races her sons all racing nice Ford cars. Obviously I could have won but my ego could not let me let off the gas!
Oh yeah and let's not forget here I'm supposed to be running something like a 12.9 - 12.7 in that area? It's been a lot of fun building the car in kind of aiming towards this race a bit too, but I'm so far on the bad end of a lot of things LOL maybe some cheating and some unseen shots and I mean big shots of nitrous I can get the job done LOL so I officially call myself in dead last for the 318 race of the people who have at least qualified though officially I believe?

I wonder if it would hurt to go ahead and just post a current list as the thread goes along? And maybe even the Rules every so often posted to maybe give a visual to keep other people interested? You know how lazy people can be I mean go all the way back to the beginning of the thread that's a lot of work LOL

I was correct, I'm dead last of the people who have taking a qualifying pass.
And I need to recalculate here real quick I think it's even worse...
 
Okay definitely need to change the 12.9 to at least a 12.5 because I believe I have an upgraded Street converter of course it's the lowest upgrade that just barely qualifies me for this .4 click but again that's how my entire deal is going LOL everything just barely enough to qualify me to get a worse time LOL then we must have a discussion on this last thing with the manual valve body? Now I don't believe I officially have a manual valve body kind of like I didn't change the valve body but I did put a Transco stage 3 shift kit in it and it is full manual no other way around it. And I did drill that Dam valve body so much the damn near look like swiss cheese until I screw plates to it? If so 12.3.

Well, if you brake stall it and it's less than 2200, then you don't subtract anything. Your tranny upgrades is what, .2 ? So I think that puts ya at a 12.7 ..... correct?

P.S. yes, you are the best example of the worst use of the penalty box... LOL
