Engine Masters - X vs H vs Straight Exhaust

Hm. What I saw in the vid was the following.
Both the H and X added 4-5 ft-lbs at WOT to just below 5000 rpm
The X added no more than 2 hp at the top. Practically insignificant on this engine.
They all agreed the overall sound was different in each setup - to some people that's important

Was this a complete thorough emperical analysis? Of course not. Did it even consider the basic premises behind the concept of tuned exhausts? No. That's for the guys looking for the last hp or torque, class racers, super techs and engineers. Larry Maeux and Calvin Elston have shared a wealth of information on those subjects - a lot of it on Speedtalk forums. Anyone that interested should go there.

This was good for the typical guy/gal that wants to know what happens with a bolt on. Sadly, many will think this is what will happen, rather than what may happen. It takes more to know the variables, and neither the magazines or the mass market manufacturers want to get into that.
