1965 Dodge Dart 270 wagon

-
I just read through your entire thread . Your doing a great job .

When I saw the Valley Dodge and California plates my jaw dropped open.
Back in '63 my dad bought a '63 Dart 270 4 door 225 \6 auto ,white with red interior ,whitewall tires, wheel covers, back up lights, bumper guards and seat belts .
I convinced him not to buy the '62 Falcon wagon the year before and not to buy the '63 Corvair we were test driving when we stopped at Valley Dodge and test drove a '63 Dart 170. After returning the Corvair we went back to Valley Dodge and ordered the '63.

In Oct. '65 we went back to Valley Dodge and ordered a '66 Dart GT 225\6 auto, white with white and black interior, a/c and yes it has the Airtemp sticker in the lower right rear window, whitewalls and wheel covers, remote rearview mirror and right side mirror, bumper guards , back up lights and seat belts.
In '75 I repainted it white and yellow and had the seat inserts done in yellow.
I now have that Dart and just updated it to front disc brakes.

Here's the best part I worked at Valley Dodge in '73 &'74.

Now talk about a small world I stopped by Scott's place back in 2010.

You are doing a great restoration on that '65 wagon .

Thanks for the kind words. Well, the world is becoming smaller and smaller. Are Valley Dodge still in business? I'm looking for all kinds of sales promotion material.

Your car looks awesome. The story is just amazing. Sometimes it feels that the best part of this hobby is all the told stories. I just enjoy them!

Today some more progress was made. Intake in place with almost all the add ons in place. Factory water neck is odd compared to the cast ones for the non a/c engines!

This weekend the exhaust manifold got some attention so now they are back in shape. I even found part so the choke work.
The old exhaust gasket was glass beaded so I could reuse them with some heat gasket sealer.
Next need to be the oil pump and the oil pan and paint!

Over the years I have found out that is people tell me a car or an engine is junk there is always something to keep! A nut, a clips, a small bracket or sometimes just a washer! So I know the feeling Don! Anything showed up yet?

Not yet! Companies that provide a service seem to be so slow!

Yepp, been in that situation before.
Tonight I was able to add some parts on the engine. Actually this is nice work. You can watch the progress!

Your progress is great! I have neglected the assembly of my motor too long I believe. Your progress makes me need to get back to work on my motor!

I am contemplating buying a 47 Dodge so hopefully it won't slow the wagon progress down too much!

Wow, that's cool! What bodystyle? Remember when I was 18 and found a 46 Dodge, a former taxicar! Ever since 46-48 Dodge is on my list!

It is a 4 door sedan and my first thought about it was to streetrod it as I think the engine is either missing or locked up. I do know the rear seat is missing as is the front seat cushion from the pictures. My thought was to use the 58 Gen I 392 Hemi I have OR one of the slants I have with my triple Weber setup. Both would be mated to OD torqueflites as I have both the Hemi and a slant adapter. At any rate I can only plan in my head until it is safely at my house.

Great looking engine, Ulf
Cool Dodge, dartman. I can see a future build thread.

Looking good! That lower pulley has lots of grooves. The car going to have a/c?

That is an AC, PS and alternator pulley (have one just like it for my Barracuda which is getting AC added. Ulf and I had a discussion somewhere on this thread about getting his factory drier rebuilt (it's a 2 year only - 65/66) horizontal drier.

Of cause Toolman! Due to global warming we need air condition up in northern Sweden! Lol!
Actually the car was built with factory A/C which was a rare option on the wagons and I will have it that way.

Where did you get your drier rebuilt? I searched here in Sweden today but no luck.

I have sent several of them to Classic Air in Florida. They have done a fantastic job of opening the drier and welding it closed so it's hardly seen. The last one I sent to them a few months ago, the cost was $115 plus return shipping. If they don't ship to Europe, then have it shipped to me and I'll ship it to you. When they are returned, they are capped. After the rest of the system is installed, only then the caps are removed and the drier installed. This keeps atmosphere contamination to a minimum!

Thanks Swedefish! I can see that build too!

Lol! Hmmm Is there a forum on FABO for something like a build on a pre-A Body? I didn't see one or maybe it's a sub-forum and I just missed it lol! So maybe I would need put it on the P15-D24 forum. The problem with that forum seems to be they don't care for modified cars, just original cars.
