Would this be a major project ? if anyone has done it what parts are required ?

No easy way. I believe the roof line is different as well. look at the windshield height, the Hardtop I believe is shorter.

Yeah. It's called ruining a good lookin car. Sell it to somebody who appreciates it if you don't. Don't be stupid.

Although I agree with RRR (maybe not the language), I will say that it would be VERY difficult and expensive. Converting a 4 door to a 2 door is easier (and actually done frequently. If you want a 2 door hardtop, then sell your post car and buy one.

Yeah. It's called ruining a goddamn good lookin car. Sell it to somebody who appreciates it if you don't. Don't be fuckin stupid.
You really are a jerkoff sometimes. The man didn't personally insult YOU did he? The man asked a question. Were YOU born knowing everything or did you acquire your vast knowledge over time? When you were first messing with cars, I'd bet that you may have asked questions that someone thought was dumb as ****. Go back to watching reruns of Murder She Wrote.
To the OP:
I have wondered for years why automakers made a POST model and a hardtop version of the same basic car. There was no sense to it as far as I can tell, certainly not financial. Why make two different roof skins, two different windshields/A pillars/Interior A pillar covers, wiper arms, doors, side glass for the doors, rear side windows...Rear window too?? GM did it, Ma Mopar did it. Not sure about AMC or Ford.
To do a change like this is a huge undertaking but it is possible. You'd need a donor car since none of the needed parts are being reproduced. People tear down classic cars to what looks like a plucked chicken and seem to get them all back together but this is usually only seen on high value cars. No offense to you but the 65 Dart is not one of them. Don't feel bad...I also have a 65 Dart post model. A buddy has a 64 Valiant post. You can black out the B pillar and window frames and tint the windows to sorta hide the framework. I've seen it done and it does help.
Good luck.

Pot, kettle......black.....all that.

Getting too old and bitter to be helpful? Why insult a guy that simply asks for help?
I'm sure that the majority of enthusiasts prefer a coupe/hardtop style over a post sedan model. If you prefer the post cars, you are one of the few that do.

I wouldn't be willing to bet on that statement.

I owned the car for 10 years and i like the way it looks as it is!! I also like the openness of the non post when the windows are all down. I was just wondering if it was just wondering if it could be done without cutting up the car into a major project
I didn't think it would be an angry topic !! seeing I am not talking about changing the look to anything other than a normal mopar style

I like them both but prefer the hardtop over the post. I am happy to have an early "A" either way !! sounds like a good question to throw out there !!

Contrary to popular belief, I didn't insult you. I just said not to be stupid. That's not an insult. That's advice.

My harsh response was to let you know that it would be one HELL of an endeavor to undertake. Like was said, it would be easier to make a two door from a four door.......just look at the fantastic job waggin did on his car. The guy has probably forgotten more about bodywork than most people will ever know.....but I am not sure even he would undertake what you have proposed. Besides, he probably likes post cars too much to hack one up.........but if anybody could do it, he would be it.

You should keep the car as is and when you paint it, do what car manufactures do today. Paint the post black so it blends in like it is not even there.

Being an old Guy, back in 64' I saw people driving the Post cars because they liked to wear big hats!
That was hard to do in a Hardtop.HAHAHA

I can't answer your question but I know this has been done on '66 Valiants. The '66 Valiants all use same roof panel; 2 & 4 door, sedan & post are all the same. Not sure if the Dart shared the roof, if so it's do-able, especially if you can find a parts car.

A Mopar parts book or a Glenn Mitchell collision repair book would be a good guide for this.

Yes the auto makers did go to all of the trouble to make sportier Hardtops, even on four door and station wagon models. With car design appearance trumps everything else, which is like many things in life.

Time, talent, and money, and You can do almost anything. -- Contact Waggin, here on FABO. He converted a Station Wagon.

I get carried away from time to time. Sorry for the language. It wasn't necessary. I kinda get carried away makin a point sometimes.

You must be a passionate man....Angrier than average sometimes and happier than others at other times?

That's about right. Probably just short of bipolar.

**** man....That sounds like me too.
I've been banned at Moparts going on 7 or 8 times for **** I do everywhere else. That is the only site that I have to SELF edit. It sucks to wear the straight jacket and ball gag over there but there are some helpful and interesting people and content there sometimes.

We were all better off before the invention of political correctness. The interpretation of what Rusty said, would have been different.

Now parts history is being erased, ... our errors may repeat. We have lost the freedom of speech, and most do not even know it....

I live on a farm, **** is everywhere... and **** is now one of the bad words. I am too set in my ways to keep renaming it, as an attempt for lefts to be happy, they are mean spirited.

Here's some pics from the '66 mopar parts book.
It's interesting that these are different from the same year Valiant!
