As a mechanic from 1968 to now, I can't think of any other carby and automatic choke that was made 57+ years ago that impresses me so much !..............our 1965 Valiant Regal PBA which parents purchased here in Australia new has never had the bi-metal heat stove choke replaced or the carby Overhauled ! .......un-bloody-believable ! The new Fuel & air filter every 10,000 miles must be one of the points of credit.

Same goes for the whole car...........not one thing has been replaced other than normal minor service items....original power plant/drive-line untouched.....go figure!

Always had one very respectful driver; Mum!.....she wouldnt let Dad drive it as he was a little rough ........I've done my best to follow her lead for the last 20 years since she passed, and the beautiful old girl just keeps on as if Mum was driving her. I think the modern coolant we put in 20 years ago must be given the credit for welch plugs and head gasket never needing to be replaced.

Im about to take her off the road to remove K frame & all her virgin Bushes and Ball joints from the front end and maybe lift engine and Tranny out and replace a few leaky seals and gaskets

She's a dandy! I am surprised it has a "leaning tower of power" and not a Hemi 6.

The Hemi 6 didn't arrive till around 69 or 70.

To Bee Vee: welcome mate! There's a lot of Australians who are members here!

love the right hand drive and dash layout!

It still amazes me how they got all that stuff on the right side, steering, brakes, e-brakes, engine, dist.

did they shift the engine etc over some to the left??? cool car.. love it!!

does kangaroo really taste like chicken???? ha

Thanks everyone for your welcome and appreciation of our 65 Valiant which I think USA calls a Dodge Dart?......................none of our cars got the engine "pushed" sideways to fit!: the wise Chrysler Engineers must have figured it all out from 1960 in the RV1 !...........must admit tho, pulling the whole dizzy out once every blue moon to replace the points and condenser is a lot easier than trying to struggle with that job "in situ"!..........where is your oil filter placed in your Slant 6's ? I thought they were all like ours remotely on LHS.................cheers everyone

Hi Barbee..........Kangaroo is the healthiest red meat you can eat, and tastes better, IMHO, than any other red meat worlwide, and nothing like chicken. Once you try it, you'll either refuse all else, or it just wont be to your taste; we're all different I guess. :)

I love an ol slant

granted they are not the most powerful engines in the world, but there will never be another engine with the personality and charm of a slant. :)

awesome car !!!

Cheers and thanks.............since 1965 Ive never grown tired of this car even tho I was a toddler in 1965!..........the competitor to Valiant 215cid in Australia was Ford's 170cid and Holden's(GMH) 179cid. This made Valiants the "King of Cubes" in Ozy 6 cyl......but the Slant 6 was a better engineered engine in the eyes of most; hence their superiority on race days.
Our AP5 in the pic is a 225cid as fitted to our "Regal"range here.........such a bullet-proof car we'll never see again

I dunno it looks like a 63 or 64 US Valiant in the rear, but unlike those yours has a full width grille, kinda like a 65 or 66 Dart.
