I just saw this on ebay and thought "who in their right mind would buy this". I looked on the recent sales and feedback ratings and have seen that there are at least 7 really lazy people that have purchased this "product". Fer pete's sake it a piece of plastic you buy at lowes and cost 2/3rds that price and you can make 25+ sets per darn roll easily. They don't even give you the sticky dum-dum to attach it with AND charge shipping!GAH!!!! That seller has huge balls, dumb lazy buyer.
1966-76 MoPar A-body door and window panel plastic moisture barriers | eBay

There's a bunch of weirdos that want strictly "mopar oem stuff and or look" that's who.
Yes there are BUT did you look at the ad? It's folded plastic sheet(probably from a big box store like lowes) that is cut into a pattern that will NOT fit 63-66, might fit the later ones but is NOT mopar OEM stuff or even look. I worked at a dealership (Jim Vince dodge on fort street in Michigan to be exact)during my layoff days from Ma Mopar and had to install those moisture barrier on new doors along with the door panels when the dealers body shop couldn't fix the old doors. They actually had a part number and a kit to put them on (oh and it came with all the door panel clip holes cut in the correct location, window, armrest and door crank holes cut AND the sticky sealant if you ordered the kit)

Define lazy. I made my own before I had kids. Now I don't have much at all for time, so $30 is not a lot for things ready to go. I guess it depends on your priority's, liquidity and time. Some people pay upwards of $60k for an engine built, dyno'd and ready to go....I think there nuts but it's their money.

At first read, I was in agreement with the OP. Does sound like it should be simple and cheep...right? But plastic prices have gone up a lot, and if you don't have a template...
He is using 6MIL, which sounds about right. $25 for a 10x25... Shop 10-ft x 25-ft x 6-mil Clear Plastic Sheeting at Lowes.com I figure I could get a few sets out of that. I was lucky to get my plastic for free from the warehouse I worked at at the time. My old ones were in little bits, so no template to cut from. So, I taped it up to the door and pretty much hacked mine out of the sheet. Didn't look fancy, but functional. For the time I spent screwing around with it, I would have gladly paid someone 20 bucks to cut them out for me. LOL.
If I actually wanted them neat, the ebay auction starts looking like a pretty good deal.

I get it wholesale on a 10x50 role for about that equivlant in cdn dollars @ $35-40cdn and I bet I could make more than 50 doors worth out of that . Thats as bad as what Year One charges for the mdf trunk floor panels , I know I can get 3 of those out of a $12cdn sheet of that , draw them out on the top sheet stack 4 or 5 sheets and have at her with the jigsaw for 10 minutes -presto 12 -15 of those puppies for 50-60 bucks .

I got some heavy duty plastic sheeting at work. I planned on making sets for both barracudas and rolling them up and into a mailer tube untill needed

you do have doors don't ya? there is your template how bout door panels? you got em off perfect template right there.
and it isn't 20 bucks though it's closer to(29.99 +6.49) 36.00 with shipping with no rear plastic added sooooo ya gotta get the plastic anyway. still look good to you? ahhh forgot, gotta get the dum dum to stickit on also (add more money)

you can get 17(assuming these are approximately 20"x43") sets with extra for some rear quarter panel pieces out of your 25.00 plastic sheeting 25/17=1.47 ish per set for plastic prices. 20 minutes total time to do both doors and rear quarter panels. I was slow since I put down my tape and dum-dum and couldn't find it for a bit)
cutout plastic.jpg

using a new single edged razor blade takes about 2 minutes total to trace the sides and bottom and making the same exact cuts as shown in his ad or you could use a straightedge or even a 6ft piece of 1"x1/8" flat aluminum stock as for the holes I used a small propane torch to heat up the end of a scrap socket and made super nice round holes for the window crank and door handle since I have an early A with a curved top recess instead of the easier straight lines on later a's
plastic cut.jpg

so no I don't think it is a good idea for me to pay for that. 29.99 (for 2 pieces of plastic) +6.49 for shipping does NOT sound like a good idea to me. It could have been free shipping and it still would be too much, but to pay shipping and NOT get the sticky stuff or a good reproduction of the original for that price is crazy.

Your probably right. But, people spend a lot more for other things they could do themselves... I over estimated the size needed per piece. And thought he was cutting to correct original shape. That's why I mentioned a template. Of course you can make a piece to cover the door. Being the cheap bastard I am , I did, with free plastic.

^^SolidWorks?
I wish. that is wayyyyyy beyond my pay grade.

It is almost as good called Aspire by Vectric software. bout 1500.00 for this version it does a lot of the solidworks stuff but not as "dimensioned" as solidworks. I have to use a cad software to get precise dimensions and then import it into Aspire to create the 3d modeling I need for my parts

psst - Ebay ad clearly states "You will get a reproduction set that covers both front and rear panels."

Shown with 69-70 charger door lol

somehow I missed that. the 69 70 charger door and the rear panels. hmmm I have some door panels off of my best friends 69. maybe I'll go into competition with him and sell them 20 buck with shipping.

But it's still not worth it to me. To each his own. I'll spend time doing it and save me some dollars to spend on stuff I can't do. like re chrome a bumper or align the car for the road or .....dang I can do the rest.

I found a few niche markets for A bodies that i sold stuff for. This is one i had not thought of though. Definitely one of the easiest to make money on.

yup nice profit margin if you can get people to buy them, and he did! As for me I like making a part that I need for my car that I can find nowhere else. If others like the parts I sell em but otherwise I just make them for me

It used to be a budget software, not anymore. When I got into it in the mid 90's Solidworks was $5k and Pro-E was $25k + a $5k machine to run it.

Never seen Aspire, I'll have to check it out. Seem to handle complex shapes well.

I go down to the local mattress stores and grab 6 mil out of their dumpsters from the plastic bags they come in.
Just did the entire behind the back seat, new package tray and interior panels with that and insulation held with 3m contact spray.

"....Easier the cutting it yourself!! AAAAAAA++++++++++..." Now THAT is lazy considering your going to have to 'bust your ***' getting the panels off anyway.

"...go down to the local mattress stores and grab 6 mil out of their dumpsters from the plastic bags they come in..." There you go!

I dumpster dive for all kinds of stuff. I will add this to my list.

We get aircraft sheetmetal on pallets where i work. Theres heavy duty paper placed between each sheet. I roll it up and take it home and use for auto body masking paper. Also under the bottom sheet protecting it from the pallet theres usually 1/8" thick masonite or a little thicker like 3/16" i used the 1/8" to make the trunk divider panels and package trays for both cudas i have, and the 3/16" to make spare tire boards for both cudas as well. Free, and all i needed was my jigsaw, a sander, and the old shot pieces for templates.

The pallets come with heavy duty corrugated cardboard flat sheet on top to protect the top sheet during transport. I save this too, because i have used it to construct special sized boxed to ship parts in.

The Company tosses this all in the trash. Another guy here hacks the pallets up for wood supply for his fire pit. These are non standard pallets. They are 3' ×10' so they really cant be reused.
