While some of you know i sold my car many do not. You guys know that I drove my car a lot and each year i would put 1000 or more miles on my car before most people(well us folks that have to store then in the winter months) even considered getting theirs out for the season.

I did so much work and spent so much money on my car and i turned it into something that was a great car but it ended up being a car that lost the majority of it drive ability (for what I do) and was not the desirable to me anymore. I made a mistake with the big motor and gear swap and other things that made it not so enjoyable. And it would have been more work to get it back to where it would be acceptable daily driver for me( esp since i really wanted a truck lol than to sell and look for something else.

So fast forward a few months and a lot of looking i have found what I want and it wont take a total restoration to get it where i want it. I have wanted for a very long time to do a mid 50s truck and found this 1953 five window truck and im so excited to get started on it.

while its not a car and i will of course start posting on the other truck forum (already a member) i really wanted to tell you guys because you have been a big help for many years.

So without further a due here she is a 1953 dodge with 318 and 904. The box is in great shape as is the cab with minimal work as there are no holes and just some work needed on bottom of the doors. then some paint and she will be beauty. I will get more pics for you guys later of other side and interior. Its on original frame with adapters to run newer style wheels

Nice truck! A friend of mine and FABO member as well just bought his dream truck -a 57 with a poly and 3 on the tree. I kick myself in the tail just about every day for getting rid of my 56!

thanks and now I just gotta find the link to the truck site lol

I grew up with a blue 53 with flat head. My dad bought it new and I put lots of miles on it hauling hay and such. We also had a 53 Meadowbrook 4 door the same color. That old truck brought back lots of memories

I think a thread here would be appropriate as there is not much happening over at the Truck forum! I just bought a 47 Dodge and will post a thread on it's progress(won't be stock that's for sure!)

Nice find, I still kick my self for selling my 56 dodge tk, I took the flat head out, installed a 318 / 904, the truck had a sweet rust free body, decent original interior.
The thing I hate about those old trucks is they truly drive like **** with the straight axle and drum brakes.

i have not picked it up nor looked at paperwork yet but i can tell from examining pics of the hood and grill that it cant be a 53. with looking at pics it looks like it has to be 54-56 due to the way the center section of the hood comes down to the grill from the top of the hood.

I agree the hood looks the same as my 56 was, also finding a nice grill is like "looking for a needle in a haystack"

The center section of the hood comes down like it seems 54-56 and its totally different before and after. Im looking now to try and find differences in anything like headlights/bumpers/other body parts or lines and or vent windows between 54-56

i did not even ask him about the grill but they look pretty simple so maybe i go after market or make one.

if it was not so late i would call or message him lol. but im going 54 because the hood puts it 54-56 but the hood/wing window combo seems to be in 54. But we will see lol

Those corner glass for the cab are hard to find, buy any you come across regardless of the price.

The guy still has this and I'm walking again and back to work so I am about to pull the trigger on it. Its not the old dart but it will have to do

So today I put a down payment and worked out a payment plan and I will have this home and 1005 mine my mid-April at the latest and I'm super excited to get started on it. I will be a slow process because I still getting on my feet again but I plan to get it drivable and inspectable all one color ( prob primer black ) for now and work on it while I drive it and enjoy it. Just like I did the dart.

The old jalopy on her way home.

Gonna take some time but i can't wait to get started
