ok looks like its early enough to have ok wifi.

we drove 12 hours to persimmon creek campground in murphy nc. what a nice little campground.. clean, well run and awesome staff. well worth the trip.

we really lucked out weather wise.. its be perfect. during the eclipse there was not a cloud in the sky..

the eclipse was cool as hell.. the lighting was so strange and hard to explain.. at one point just before totality it was kinda grey looking.. the temps dropped what felt like 15 degrees. really cool and something you need to experience.. next one in the united states will be in 2024. the track will be from texas to maine...

anyway here are some pics... last minute i made a filter for my camera out of a pair of free eclipse glasses and some electrical tape.. worked better then expected..lol..

Very cool. Thanx for the pics. Obviously many of us did not get to see the full show like that. Where I am it was a just fraction of what you photographed. Good thinking on the "filter". Here the lighting was what I would compare to a smoky day from the all fires that are burning everywhere. Kind of orange-ish and softened light.

35 miles South of Nashville, Tennessee
just happen to look at the ground (concrete in front of the shop)
neat patterns, as the eclipse ended, sun just started to appear, light coming thru the tree leaves.

I was wondering if anyone took pics on here, we got about 85% in eastern panhandle, WVa.
I looked at it with my auto welding lens dialed max at shade 13. No problem, tried to take a pic through it and it did`nt turn out:( The dimness and shadows were weird. Thanks for posting, Wish I could of seen the full coverage.

No way was I doing any of that! Last time I put on dark glasses and stared at 2 large orbs, I got called into HR and damn near lost my job....

We only had something like 75% coverage. I watched it over my shoulder with the tablet camera set on "selfie."

About every couple minutes, I looked through my welding hood with 12 shade lense and took a few pictures eith my cell phone using 2 lenses stacked. The view was good, but better when I ran video then done screenshots of the sun on the video. The cloud and jet

picture was just 1 lense. The sliver was video shot with 2 lenses.
