Greetings,
I had my car painted by a guy who completely unassembled the wiper motors, arms, pivots, etc, to paint the engine bay. This guy, (I'm being nice here) has since died, so I can't ask him what windshield wiper pivots, arms, etc. parts were given back to me when he decided he didn't want to put it back together....

Reinstalling the parts seemed straight forward, except that the right hand drive link disconnects itself from the right hand pivot assembly, and the wipers over shoot the chrome in the down stroke and goes way past the windshield and pillar (left side). I suspected the drive crank link was hooked up wrong to the left pivot assembly, but I have triple check and even tried to reverse them, but the assembly is correct, according to the 1969 Service manual.

However, I have no idea if the Drive crank connecting to the variable speed motor, or either of the right and left pivot assemblies are correct?

How do I know if they are correct? Are there dimensions of these parts so I can determine correctness?

Help please! RainEx is nice, but best at high speeds.....

Best,

Bill

Bill.post pics of what you have amd how its hooked up. It'll be easier that way.
Fyi I would imagine 67-73 abody variable will be the same. Not specific to S or barracudas.
I'll go snap pics of my 67 cuda now

Sorry I couldn't get better pics. Mine is ac car so tight squeeze.
1st pic from glovebox at pass side pivot.
2nd pic drivers side
3rd is of motor. Make sure your motor matches your switch.

Is there a limit on the size of the Pictures? It is giving me the following message:
"Security error occurred. Please press back, refresh the page, and try again."

Thanks for the quick reply.

Pictures from top to bottom: LH Pivot Arm; RH Pivot Arm; Variable Speed Motor; Variable Speed Motor Crank Arm.
Also: FYI: My Variable Speed Motor does not Park! I have to shut them off just past full stroke, and manually push wipers down.

I also see your bushings are different than mine?

See my pics. They are in park position.
First thing i notice is your arms need to be flipped. The arms have a "groove" in them. Groove should be pointed out.
Yes different bushings but function the same.
Was the motor crank arm ever removed?

I'm not sure about the motor crank arm being removed. I would think the motor would come out with out disconnecting it, so I'd say no.... :)

Regarding the connecting links, I've studied them too. In the Repair Manual, the link to the RH pivot appears to have the convex surface of the link pointing to the windshield. Mine does appear to point the concave side to the windshield.

Ok.
What concerns me is you say your motor won't shut off.
Under that cover is a copper plate shaped rotary switch.
When you move the switch too "off", it changes the power feed THROUGH that switch.
When the contacts hit a gap in the plate, no power.
I have one on a B body like 4spddragtop's that I took apart, cleaned and adjusted.
I can post pictures and a simplified wiring diagram if it gets to that.
(Chrysler treated the wiring as an after thought on the wiper motor.)
Unfortunately, my B body came with a two speed switch.
Yes, that will work with a variable motor.
There is a thread on here about motors and adjusting that switch.
I believe your motor has some markings on it to do that.
But they are different from 4spd's.
You rotate the plate to make it stop in the right place.

I would love to see your disassembly!

I think that's a 3 speed. But you can see the marking?
Not stopping is what is odd to me.
Disassembly is not really that hard.
And mine really needed cleaning and new grease.
Edit.
Your's MAY look different. May not.
Pull the cover and you will see.

Listen to Adriver. He knows what he is saying. I havent chkd my FSM yet but will.
In my opinion the motor shouldn't or wouldnt need adjusting unless someone dug into it?? OR its never been on this car before?
I didnt mention the adjustment cuz Ive never had to do that although I agree that it can be done IF need be.

Larry it looks like in your pics you have drivers side in the right in your pics?
Also your bracket/link on the left in your pics. I dont have that in mine?

I've had this car since November of 1971, when I purchased it from my cousin, who bought it new. The Park feature has never worked since I've owned the car, and I somewhat almost believe I remember my cousin saying there was a broken gear inside the motor.

I am more concerned about the correct articulation/lever action of the entire assembly! I get lots of travel on my blades....:)

I appreciate all the input on the adjustment of the motor, and will take that on as well. Maybe first! Thanks guys...

Bill chk.this link and download a Parts manual
MyMopar - Mopar Forums & Information - Parts & Accessories Books
I have 69 Plymouth service manual but doesnt specifically show everything for the 69 barracuda
Thanks: I've down loaded the entire parts manual, and after about 2 hours have not found any illustrations or other information regarding wiper systems. Looking in the Alphabetical Index, I was to find information on 23-67-2 through 268. However, nothing. Wiper Switch was to be on 23-67-160, but nothing there?

I am seeking an illustration catalog! Lot's of information on the 1411 pages ! :)

Bill if you want come down to happy valley (SE Portland) I'd be happy to help you out. I have switches et.al here. Plus a few you can look at.. I'll send you contact via PM.

Yea.
After looking the situation with fresh eyes.
Your's should look like my Levi's.
Not that funky 3 speed motor.
It's real easy to take apart and clean.
Should do that.
The only part that might be tricky is when you take the armature out with the worm gear on the end there is a brash thrust plug under that "adjustment screw" with a little disk of some material . Must be a "seal".
I used compressed air to blow grease out at that point.
And almost "lost" those things in the gravel.
Fortunately they both stayed in the housing.
