Anyone running the American Racing 17 x 8 Torque Thrust D rims on there A body. I was on the Summit website and they list one that is 17 x 8 with 4 1/2 bolt pattern with 5.48 backspace. This is only a 1/4 inch off the Mustang Bullit rims with the 5.72 backspace. I have a Dart Sport with a B body rear 68-70 width. With a set of 255 50 17 rear tires and 245 45 17 fronts. Price is decent at 130.00 a rim.
thanks

If you've got the 73+ disks in the front the 17x8's with 5.48" of backspace and 245/45/17's should fit fine, that's pretty close to perfect for a set of 17x8's to be centered up front.

In the back with a 68-70 B body 8 3/4 it's probably not going to work unless you cut/trim your quarter lips back around a 1/2" or run the car at a fairly high ride height in the back.

I run 295/35/18's on 18x10's on the back of my Duster with a 1/2" spring offset and about a 1/2" trimmed off the quarter lips. I also have a 68-70 B body 8 3/4, and the backspace on my 18x10's is 7". Your 17x8" with 5.48" of backspace and 255's would only be about a 1/4" inside the outside tire wall on my set up with the 295's. Which means it would clear if you trim the quarter lips back, but probably not if you leave them stock. If you didn't want to cut or move anything, you'd want about a 6" backspace with a 17x8" and a a 68-70 B body 8 3/4.

thanks for the reply I have trimmed the quarter lip right back to the wheel well spot welds around ( 5/8-3/4) I'm currently running 15 x 8 torque thrusts with 4.5 bs and 275-60-15's they just clear the quarter and I almost have 1 1/2" to the leaf springs. Thats why I thought the extra 1" of bs and a slightly narrower tire would be perfect.

Well there you go! Yes with the quarter lips trimmed back to the spot welds you shouldn't have any problems with the 17x8's with 5.48" of backspace and 255's. That's the same amount I took off the quarter lips on mine, so, you'd have about an extra 1/4" of clearance compared to my current combination.

Tires 245 45 17 front & 255 50 17 rear Nitto Invo tires F&R. Chosen to help the 3:23 gears 27" tall.Clear quarters by a mile (actually over a inch & springs by 1/2") Hub centers clear factory rotor hubs fine (unlike Mustang Bullit rims)nice affordable option .Will post a few pictures later. Thanks 72bluNblu for the advice

Nice Mike. Did you put the lowering blocks back in the rear springs?

They look really good! Question and I dont mean to hijack but, I have a a body 8 3/4 with dr diff axles and the right stuff rear disc what should I get as far as backspacing for 17×8s on the rear to make sure they clear? Is it the same?

Based on 72BlunBlu's post #2, it looks like a 6" backspace would be close to ideal with your axle...but that also depends on which body style you're running and how much those axles/brakes change the dimension from stock width. Can you measure or contact Dr. Diff to get the info?

By the way, has anyone weighed these?

Just went back to drool on these pics again...your car looks insanely good, sir.
Thanks just posted the car in the for sale section. Tons of hr's went into it someone will end up with a nice car

Ugh. For sale? I hope someone appreciates this machine!

It looks like your bumper is moved in a bit and it looks great. How did you do it? Did you just drill new holes in the brackets?
