I had hot oatmeal and coffee that morning and then continued on my way. We were walking the Mid State trail in January. My buddy still talks about it and has never gone back packing again. Me....I don't go much any more but I do miss it. Winter camping means no snakes or bugs!

Thats very cool and unforgettable @dartnabout Tike. Back in '93 we arrived at Cumberland Island on Halloween, so cold they had snow in Atlanta. We saw flurries on the ferry ride. Best camping trip ever. We made coffee as soon as we set our stuff down at the campsite. Sadly those friends have passed on but still we had so much fun, my stomach muscles were sore from laughing. And we werent drinking much I dont think.

Thanks, Dave, it is not often one is invited to an extended party like the one you are hosting...very bravely I might add haha! You guys will have a blast and your home is very well suited to a big party.
 
I've done my share of cold weather tent camping. The best one was probably the coldest one. 3 days in an open meadow along the tree line with a foot of snow on the ground. It was 15*F during the day and -5*F overnight. We hiked in a few miles and set up camp. It was clear all 3 days and sitting around the campfire at night was amazing with the total quiet other than the fire cracking and the sky blazing with more stars than I have ever seen.

When you have the right gear and skills, it's an amazing experience.

Interesting. Sometime they get fuel soaked and read low. Maybe next time try filling as slow as you can get the pump handle to dispense?

Thanks! While we joke that it might be mayhem, in reality I already know most of the guys coming over and they are some of the best folks it's ever been my pleasure to hang out with. It will be fun, irreverent and memorable!
 
Yep I know I am missing some classy and very humorous guys.

Finally Comcast restored service. Phone is better than nothing but tedious.
 
Oh yeah, and my wife and daughter are going to be here too. Remember, at least one of them will be armed and neither drink...

Looks like we will be having some party favors delivered from someone who wants to be here in spirit...or is that spirits? :D
