Will this fit under the hood of a 67 Dart? It looks tall...

Other gurus will weigh in on this, but having owned a 67 Dart in original configuration, I don't think so. It appears to be way too tall for a stock hood.

Is that an Air Gap? I have an Air Gap on my 69 340 Cuda with an Edelbrock Thunder carb, and it fits under the hood. I did have to buy a 2" high air cleaner element to replace the 3" one, but it fits.

I ran an Air gap on my 67 Dart with an Edelbrock carb. Not gonna lie, there was a dimple on the hood where the previous owner didn't have the stud cut short enough. Once that was trimmed and with a drop base air cleaner, it fit fine. That was using the Schumaker S6 to V8 adapter mounts.

Yep on my 68 340 s it fit with dropped base air cleaner and thinner filter. Need to buy the aftermarket throttle cable mount or make an extension to get it high enough

On my 67 Barracuda I have a Air Gap with FiTech. The height is the same as a carb. I got a 4'' air cleaner with a dropped base under there after I dropped the base another 3/4". The trick was to use a 16" to get the dropped section out far enough to clear the linkages. I've got about 3/8" hood clearance to the factory pie plate I put on top. It sits so low you can't even see the throttle body. Your issue preventing this might be the float bowls so an oval cleaner might work.

I don't know if Dart's and Cuda's have the same hood height but I have an Air-Gap on my SB with a Holley on top of it WITH a 1" spacer and it clears the hood (just barely). The trick is to find a drop base air cleaner. I got the air cleaner with the most drop there is. The drop base cleaner barely clears the carb but it gave me a lot room to the hood. BTW: it's a 3" tall filter element on it too

And the Holley is shorter then the Carter. Where the air cleaner sits.

I ran a Holley strip Dominator (M1, probably close to that) and a Holley and then a carter in a 65, dropped base air cleaner worked just fine. I had the thin motor mounts, not the 4" tall bricks.

I'm a big fan of fresh cold air to the carb, so, for me, the cheapest easiest way was to plug in the jigsaw and start nibbling.
I have the same set-up in a 68 Barracuda. Mines a little twisted tho; I sealed the carb to the bottom of the hood, and mounted an oval aluminum air filter on top of the hood between the hood-inserts. It doesn't look the best, but it solved some idle issues, and the engine seemed to pick up about 200 hp,lol. Those are azz-dyno ponies.

Installing an AirGap intake and still use the open airfilter unit makes it appear the intake is just used for Show&Shine purposes.
The AirGap and a cold air intake should go together like bread and butter.

3 and 1/4 inch for Holley, 3 and 3/4 for AFB Carter.
Dont have a AFB around to measure, but I have in the past

Sometimes that half inch makes all the difference.

Now the top of the Holley is taller, BUT it is in the air cleaner so it does not matter.....
