Am I cutting a hole?

I'm a big fan of fresh cold air to the carb, so, for me, the cheapest easiest way was to plug in the jigsaw and start nibbling.
I have the same set-up in a 68 Barracuda. Mines a little twisted tho; I sealed the carb to the bottom of the hood, and mounted an oval aluminum air filter on top of the hood between the hood-inserts. It doesn't look the best, but it solved some idle issues, and the engine seemed to pick up about 200 hp,lol. Those are azz-dyno ponies.
