The mighty Hellcat has broken down my resistance also. Rather than a crate motor, I have started to collect the parts to build a HC engine for my Cuda. I may stroke it to 426, or at minimum I will use forged pistons with forged H beam rods.

My dilemma is with which supercharger to use, the stock one (IHI) or a nice Whipple. I'm looking for people's opinions on which of those two superchargers you consider to be the most impressionable, with the greatest "wow" factor. Certainly, either one on this 6.2 (or 7.0) will have more power than I'll ever need. Given the time, labor and money I'm putting into this car, my ego wants it to be very impressive. Which one of these two blowers do you guys think I should put on this engine?

( I can get either blower for about the same cost and tuning would be about the same, so no need to add that info into your consideration)

Looking forward to hearing from you guys on this.

sounds like you cant go wrong either way but subscribed to this!

I'd go Whiple if it were me.

Wow factor.

If your looking to impress buy a real hemi
(Ha, I beat @stroked340 to the punch)

Seriously though, I wouldn't give a hello kitty hemi a second glance at a car show, but an actual 426...thats the stuff of legends

(And the hello kitty may well go down in history as the last hooray in the fight against electric cars and complecancy, but if that's the case, it will be a future generations hero, not mine)

I'm an older coot that you might expect to resist the change to new technology but instead, I love it and embrace it. I left the idea of an elephant Hemi in my Cuda back in the dark ages. I am totally in favor of the new stuff.

I had some very nice discussions with my wife over the weekend. Turns out, she wants me to have what makes me happy in life. I'm now faced with some choices I would never had dreamed I could have.

My second "toy" besides my Cuda is a Challenger 392 Scat Pack Shaker 6 speed. I'm looking at selling that for a Hellcat Challenger. I could buy a USED one and then buy a NEW Hellcrate Hemi for my Cuda.

OR the next option is a NEW Hellcat Challenger and continue on my Cuda project with the 6.1 based 392 stroker I already have built for it.

What's a fella to do??? I'm a little reluctant to buy a Hellcat, USED. At the same time, I was loving the idea of a Hellcrate Hemi for the Cuda. Either way, these choices are going to tap out my car savings account. I can't afford a new Hellcat AND a Hellcrate.

Your input would be appreciated. However, those stuck in the past need not reply.

Cutting through all of the stuff about blowers, cold air boxes, whipple, etc...none of which i know anything about...

What I'd be most leery of is that conversation with the wife. Did you record it? Get it in writing?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

fair enough, if you going to go with something new lets think this through
(still going from the starting point of impressing people when you open the hood)
i would go out and buy the new hello kitty challenger and drop the 392 into the cuda
because, it will be more impressive to point at it, and say "i build it" instead of "i bought it"

now, if you want to put a charger on there i guess i would want to know what they are made of
what turns me off from these newer engines is all the composite and plastic material, it just doesnt impress as the polished aluminum does
so if any of these chargers are metal, and can be polished, i would like to see that one

(hopefully that was helpful)

on a side note, this discussion reminded me of this motorcycle add

Well, I've been remodeling our home for her (more than me) and as it's coming toward completion, she's more than appreciative of my hard work. I also work hard at my full time job and am nearing retirement, so that all inspired the conversation and her heart felt desire for me to enjoy the rest of my life, without regrets. I really want to get in on the Hellcat "action", as I missed out on the cool 60's muscle cars because I couldn't afford them. She's very much in favor of and trusts I'll make my decisions within our means.

So I ended up ordering a Hellcrate from my dealer last week. It's due in sometime this week. I'm pretty stoked. Everyone has their own preferences for a swap. For me, the ultimate is a Hellcat in my Cuda. I'll get the ECM / wiring kit first part of next year. Can't get any easier. I do expect I'll need to modify my firewall a bit to clear that big *** blower case. I'll mock the engine up in there as soon as I can to see what is needed.

Should be a fun ride

Received the Hellcrate on Thursday of last week. Rented a U-Haul motorcycle trailer to haul it because it's low profile and had a fairly low angle ramp. Still turned out to be a real ***** to unload it at home. I have an engine hoist but didn't want to uncrate it or remove the blower just to get in into my garage. Finally got it inside and removed the cube of the crate. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to raise it off the platform without removing the blower.

I made a lifting plate at one time for my other Gen3s but it is designed for the manifold bolt pattern on the earlier heads. These HC heads have an entirely different bolt pattern located on the outside edge of the mounting area, plus it would mean removing the blower. So I'll need to give it some more thought and see what I can create. Initially, I'm thinking about some type of square or rectangular cradle with chains hanging from each corner, down to mounting points on the engine. I'll have to scope it out and see what points are available for that. Otherwise I'll have to remove the blower and maybe pick up a Miller tool made for Gen3s. I saw also where RMS is now making a knock off of the Miller tool. Will check that out too.

Well, I want to get the OEM coolant tank and maybe some of the engine bay lines if they will work out. From there, probably some aftermarket water to air inter cooler(s) for up front and maybe tie those into an ice tank in the trunk for when at the track. This whole blown experience is totally new to me, so I have a lot to learn. That's one of the reasons I like the crate motor with plug n play wiring and ECM.
