What would You Choose and More Importantly WHY?

Let's assume the following senario: you've acquired a decent early A - say a Mordoor with no engine or transmission.

The senario did not pan out (car was sold just not to me) but the 273/235, built slant and, a slant under construction, and the numerous listed transmissions and conversion parts are still available. I still have my 65 Dart wagon and my 47. I was leaning towards a slant/833 in the wagon but may rethink that based on the comments. I was leaning towards the V8/A500 in the 47 but quite a few members on a couple of other forums I'm on said use the slant/904 (or keep and build up the flattie in the 47 as a V8 swap is so common. So I've made no final decision for either other than I will use what I have on hand. I may ask a mod to close the thread and open a new thread for opinions for motor/transmission for the 65 & 47. Until then, your comments and thoughts are always welcome on this thread.

get the biggest engine you can with the best tranny (i choose the A500 for the 4th gear, if the car has 3 pedals (wasnt mentioned) the 833 is good too)

plus this way, the car is ready for a 408, once you get serious with it

My banker says no way I can afford a any kind of stroker and the 273 or slant is as serious as it's gonna get lol!

I took it as using what he has,

You are correct!

Here are my reasons:
1. The slant will seem like enough power for a bit, but most likely you’ll get bored, so the 273 sets you up easier to grow. Either in engine mods or a bigger small block.

See my response to diymirage!

I think he's looking at these options because he already has all those components.

Yes, that's correct!

I like the idea of the V8 already in there, because I doubt the 273 would stay :)

No other V8 options and no money for anything else!

Because i think it would be a lot more fun and seeing that you have all of the stuff already, it would be an easy installation.

I have everything for either option!

I went 273/904 because you can build the heck outta the 904, and dress up the 273 with the proper valve covers and air cleaner, which I know you have stashed, and have yourself a whole lotta fun!!

I do have one more Commando dress-up kit!

Most important, pushbutton 904 :steering:

No pushbutton 904s in stock! Gotta use what's on hand unless someone gives me a T5 conversion
