You all definitely have an unique sickness over there, and I believe it has been spreading rapidly....it called iHotrodding !!!

PRAYERS SENT.
AbodyJoe has an excellent point.
Be it an LS, HEMI or what ever “New” engine it is, there really hard to beat for an engine out of a wreck and into your car. Keep the computer and trans? Whew! That’s a bad ***** right there. Even if left stock. Hit riders dream!
You can credit Mom MoPar for this problem.
Wouldn’t it be nice if late model Chrysler’s has the same aftermarket selection as the Chevy and ford guys.

That has been the problem. The 3G Hemi has only been around since 2003 and Chrysler has been a tight fisted ****** with their computers. Its as if Chrysler didn't care or want anyone to use their stuff in anything but a 100% stock configuration. Chevrolet and General Motors have been far more customer friendly.
I really don’t understand the hate for what’s essentially hot rodding on a budget. What allowed me to get into the old car hobby in the first place is that you can pick up a 70’s A-Body for relatively cheap, at least compared to other old cars. So if you’re going the low buck route and you want to do a swap to a modern fuel injected engine, the LS makes a lot of sense.
Now I can understand if you have a pristine Barracuda or even a very nice 60’s Dart, why it’s preferable to keep that all Mopar. So on one of those cars, the extra thousands to do a 5.7 Hemi can be justified. But in my case I have a 73 Swinger I bought for $4300. It has the beak, worn out paint, rust, dings, the panels have big gaps between them… It would be financially stupid to try and make it a show car and quite frankly, I wouldn’t want that even if money wasn’t an obstacle. So when it comes time to replace the 318, I will absolutely be considering a junkyard LS. Even a bone stock 5.3 in such a lightweight car would be a blast.
