Got a question. '68 cuda trunk trim has two 3" pieces running t/lite to t/lite. Parts book shows different numbers for top and bottom. Reproductions are the same top and bottom. Here comes the question- what is the difference between the top and the bottom? Help! Thanks.

Just FYI, the repros for the 67 trim are also incorrect -- the tops and bottoms should be different. This just irks me -- if you are going to bother tooling up, why not do it right?

also on 68 where the clips slide in are in different locations one is closer to the middle and the other is closer to the ends

Joel from Metro Parts was the first to repop these, and I asked him which piece he repopped, he said they were both the same! When I explained the difference between the upper and lower pieces, we compared his repop to the trim on my car! Lucky for him he managed to repop the lower one!!

The retainer relief is @ 10" in on the bottom trim and only @ 3" in on the top moulding

Thanks, guys, this is really helpful. Now I can see for myself if a piece of trim is top or bottom.

Have just purchased, with your help, an upper and lower moulding with original clips. So I can really say that all the advice above is correct. In addition, since the lower trim is 3/16" wider, then the clips are taller. Each moulding has seven clips. Each moulding has five center clips and two slightly different end clips. The top, narrower moulding has a single mounting stud in each of the seven clips. The bottom moulding has a single mounting stud on the two end clips, but two mounting studs on each of the five center clips. So upper moulding= 7 clips w/ single row of 7 studs, bottom moulding= 7 clips w/ double row of mounting studs on center 5 clips and 2 end clips w/ one stud each. I hope this helps someone. I thank all that helped me.
