Owning and driving old cop cars...:)

Friend of mine in high school in the early 80s, had a retire 2 door Polara detective'detective's car. Certified speedo, 360, tq. For a land yacht, that thing was quick.

After Dad left the Chrysler dealer and became the mechanic main tainting a fleet a taxis, the taxi company owner started buying retired cop cars for his fleet. They went thru many Gran Furys and Diplomas before going with Caprices. A couple of the highway patrol 90's Caprices came thru with the Corvette engines in them and had a larger bolt pattern wheel than the regular Caprices. Those cars, although I didn't like them, we're fast. We would make a repair, drive the "test drive route" to make sure there were no cops, and then open it up on the way back. Comparing one to the other, the Furys and Dips felt a lot more solid and firm compared to the Chevys. But the Chevys easily out ran them - yes we did.....lol
