Owning and driving old cop cars...:)

I've almost bought two but didn't.

1st was a 73 Polara 400-4 unmarked with package tray and grille lights.
Had all the cop goodies- original white paint with blue interior 4D with front buckets, no carpet, outside only back door handles, radio, high idle, shot gun rack, etc. 50 cent piece sized rust hole in one quarter. Asking $500 in 1989. I did buy the orange air cleaner for $20 for my 70 Super Bee. I couldn't justify two big block cars on a 20 year old's income and no garage.

2nd was a 74 Satellite 400-4 GA lieutenant's unmarked car Gold 4D with tan bucket and no carpet int. All the cop goodies but no cage. Had original paint, but some suspicious crusty rust in unusual places. Asking $800 in 2011.

One of my friends had an '84-ish AHB Diplomat around 1990. Unmarked with 318 and quadrajet. Wasn't a terrible dog like I've heard others say. Not a rocket, just a 318 powered M body.

The USAF SP where I grew up had Volares and Aspens with 6 cyls.

The township had 4 fairmonts, 3 with 6 cyl and 1 with a 5.0!

My uncle had a friend who worked at the city garage circa 1967.
He had a typed letter authorizing him to exceed the speed limit to 120 MPH for testing!
He said the 427 impala was pretty tough to beat at highway speeds.
Not sure if they had Mopars back then. Dayton was famous for oddball cop cars including 75 nova and 73 grand am!
