Just wondering who all has run bfg radial t/a’s on the front of their mopar. How do they ride? I currently have bfg advantage t/a on my demon and they have less of a actual tread block where the radial t/a have more of one, just curious on results that people have had running them on the front. Sorry if i posted in wrong area, i meant this as a general consensus more so than a particular tire question. Plus the extra views never hurt lol

Unfortunately, those sizes, 14's and 15's are getting tough to find, EXCEPT in the BFG TA. So lots of guys are forced to run them. They are fine for what they are, an old tire design.

I run a 205/70/14 my only complain is that even though the car is in the garage with the wheels off the ground for storage and no sun light getting on them with 80% of the tread left on them and there about 4-5 years old they get hard as woodpecker lips and I ride like bricks so I replace them. I don't need a blow out I had an older on fail on me one time and I was lucky I was going slow when it happened

I have them on wife coronet and my barracuda, no problems. We like them.

I still run the 245 /60/14 on the front no complaints ,they sucked in the back but thats a different traction issue .

Maybe it would help to break it down to categories?

Ride comfort - Very good
Transition/response - Below average for a modern all-season
Grip- Below average for a modern all-season
Looks- Excellent
Fragrance and density of tire smoke - Average :D
Wet traction - ???

Basically, they exist which makes hem vastly better than almost any other 14"/15" tire on the planet

Huh thats weird, im running them on the back currently and have no problem with traction as long as i launch at 4k, higher than that and its spin city lol

Its just a street car, one day i would like to take it to the track but it spends most of its time raising hell around town

They ride and handle good. I could get a nicer ride if I would remove the truck leaf the previous owner put in the rear. LOL All that work taking the springs apart. He should have spent the money and called ESPO for a 1 or 2" over spring. That's what I will probably do.

Yo mike would you mind telling me the sizes you are running?
255/60-15 on 15x7 4" backspace on the rear. Let me look up my fronts. BRB
205/70-14 on 14x6 4" backspace on the front. All small bolt pattern

Once you've (daily) driven with a modern design tire and thread, and noticed the difference compared to cheaper alternatives, I wouldn't want to depend and daily drive with the BFG's anymore.
I agree with MRGTX's post.

I make a lot of comments about BFG T/A's being hockey pucks. :p

But seriously, they're not a bad tire for cars that are equipped with fairly stock suspension. They're light years ahead of the bias plys that came on these cars from the factory.

Now, I would personally say that one of these cars with fairly stock suspension probably shouldn't be a daily driver because of the handling and stopping power that safe modern daily driving takes, but that's my opinion. If you expect modern handling or performance, you won't get it with BFG T/A's (or Cooper Cobra's for that matter). If you expect your car to handle like an old musclecar and want to stay with 14" or 15" rims, they're probably about the best you can do. BFG T/A's or Cooper Cobra's are probably your best options for larger tires. There are a few more-modern tread designs up to about 225/60/15, but after that it's pretty much just BFG T/A's or Cobra's.

I pretty much agree with these sentiments. They have a pretty hard tire compound that gets harder with age and heat cycles. Their wet traction is pretty marginal even when new, especially if you're comparing them to more modern tire designs/compounds, and also gets worse with age. They "look right" for a musclecar with a factory style appearance. Handling is not their strong suit, although they're fairly predictable.

For what they are they're not bad, and for how most of these cars get used they're ok. You can't compare them to modern performance tires in any way, shape or form and expect them to come out on top. But modern performance tires are pretty much only available in 17" or larger rim sizes, and once you've gone that route and upgraded the tires to that level, you need to follow suit with the rest of the suspension and braking too.

I always had the idea that the thread layer of BFG's were more of a nylon material than rubber.

I also own a set of BF Goodrich "Comp T/A" tires. Plenty of years old by now.
They appear a tad heavier/stiffer with a different thread. They did work a tiny bit better in the wet I noticed years ago.

I run them on my cars & have for years. I first used them on my daily driver Challenger T/A over 30 years ago, no complaints.

We have only had the car 6 years and the 15" BFG's were already on the car.
I like them. Wait to see what I think with a new heart transplant.
Hard for me to criticize the tires when the entire suspension although new, it's still 50 year old technology.

They are what they are. Not too many choices out there in the sizes we need.

I agree with 72bluNblu bout nailed it:steering:

clearly you have very limited power to put to them , my mildly worked 318 would roast em and my 410 was insane .

I run the Nitto NT555R in a 275/60/15 on 15x8 with a 4.5 backspace now . Modern drag radial traction and a better wet rating than the T/A , The 410 will still roast em on demand but they are very drivable when you don't use the throttle as an off/on switch lol.

Ummm i wouldnt say a 400 horse 340 is limited power. They are 275/60R15’s and they spin for about 15-20 feet and hook and go, idk maybe i have a ideal rear suspension setup. I can make em roast if i really get into it but at 4k they spin but not tire smoking. it gets a pretty predictable launch. Also depends on rear gear. Im only running a 3:55:1

I'm running them also, no complaints... although when the time comes I'll probably go with the Mickey Thompson sportsman s/t ... I have them on my 68 coronet and really like them
