1969 Slickback

-
Great show, you're definitely moving forward and keeping me in suspense waiting for your next task. One of the best threads........no bs and just getting it done!!

Thank you very much guys. I am hustling along as my time off is running out! But that's OK, it will still be here when I'm back.

Today I dug out the torsion bars. Now they may not be factory, but one was still in the cross-member when I got the car. They turn out to be 892/893 blue paint bars. These are 340/360 bars in 1969 if my info is correct. Although this is a 318 car it may have had a suspension package of some sort..........we'll never know!

Another slickback!! Too cool! Nice score.

My understanding is that A/C cars got 340 torsion bars to comp for the extra mass of the cooling stuff. I've not heard of any suspension upgrades for 318 cars.

I just got an email yesterday that it has been sent. It say's it should be in Montana on Monday next week. I'm still having a hard time believing there won't be a bunch of extra charges, but if it's all good, I'll be buying many more parts through them! Once I registered they offered a 10% discount on my next order good for 30 days. I need some Challenger quarters and trunk extensions. The shipping for them was exactly the same, $12 per piece! We'll see..........

Well, some Abody owners will tell you about how their 340, or 383 only have two, then again no torque boxes. Not sure of the real reason, speculation is Ma MoPar was never consistent with installing those on any.

I would tend to believe either idea on the bars. AC is heavier, but Ma Mopar was far from consistent as well! I didn't get a lot of time to do anything to the car these days off. But next time home, the pass quarter will be on the agenda! Then it's onto the rocker repair.

Uh. Say what? Who are you buying quarters from that they’re only charging $12 for shipping??

LOL, I figured someone would catch that! OK, @moparmat2000 turned me on to the place he got his panels from. The product price is right inline with Rockauto, but the shipping is ridiculous!
Here's the link. Take an item to checkout and then hit the shipping calculator. It's a big shock. If you register you get an extra 10% discount on your next order for a 30 day period. I read through some of their data and they claim to have superior transport availability. They will price match anyone, as long as it is on the delivered price. I don't see them ever having to worry about that! Like Matt said, we need to get everyone using these guys so they stock more stuff. I got the last passenger quarter, until they restock anyway. Having said all this, I lined up trunk extensions and quarters for a Challenger. Shipping was $12 each. I suppose there are items they sell that won't cost that and they could make a bit there. But all my stuff is way over that.

$158 for a Duster quarter skin??? Good lands!! How good do the goodmark panels fit?

Well, mine seemed like it was designed to be fit over existing steel. As you saw though, I cut it inside the lines. It fit very well. When it was installed over the original metal it fit tight. I'm pretty happy with it. Professional resto guys I'm sure would only use AMD, but I ain't one of those!

I cant afford AMD myself. And to cut an AMD fastback full quarter to fit a notch is just crazy. And yes the shipping is Nucking Futs. First pair of goodmark quarters i bought from getallparts.com for my 67 about 4 years ago, along w a repop battery tray it was $311 truck freight to my doorstep for all of it. Woulda been cheaper than that but i payed state sales tax as the quarters were from an in state warehouse. Fast forward to january 1st. I get a 10% new years discount code, so i go see what a set of goodmark 69 cuda quarters are going for minus battery tray. I got em shipped again to my doorstep for $312. Battery tray was $11 back 4 years ago so the quarters went up $6 each based on current pricing i payed lol. Pic #1 is the set i got for my 67. Pic # 3 is the set for the 69. Look at the pricing in pic #2 WOW!!!

The 1969 Dart with the 318 came with the heavier bars and the 6 leaf rear springs (mine did). Plymouth may have done the same and put the .87" bars in the 318 Barracuda.

Well I am impressed. Here is what $12 shipping looks like from Get All Parts. Way more than I expected, and obviously the quarter is not damaged. The box is way over-sized and it was wrapped in layers of shipping bubbles and then placed on a skid. Couldn't ask for more.

Yes, shipping today kills many purchases for everyone. This is nearly unbelievable.......OK it was unbelievable for me, until today!

Yep i thought so about the shipping when i ordered quarter skins for my 67. So i hurried up and ordered em 4 years ago thinking they effed up the shipping costs. I kept looking at my credit card statement closely for about 6 months afterward till i realized it was legit. My 69s quarters were the same way with the shipping. A total steal of a deal.

I may order those goodmark non remote mirrors next. Price is right.

The blue rallye dash frame in reply #29 page 2 looks like a 67 only rallye dash frame. I hope the blavk one sitting behind it is the original 69 one. You should flip the 67 dash frame and recoup some of your money.

No extra customs/taxes George? Delivered to Canada?

Steve, I have a buddy who runs across the line and picks things up for me, because I can't, but no extra charges whatsoever. Cheap like borscht!

Good eye Matt. I believe it is a 67. It has no VIN and no holes from the rivets. The black one is the original, with the correct VIN tag on it.
