Upper door and quarter Moldng for a 71 Duster Demon

I never saw them on a Duster. I did get a Duster with one door replace and one piece on it. It could have been a Demon door. I cannot help commenting on the stripes on the black car.

I see the stripes put on almost all Demons wrong. The stripe Should not follow the body line like every one does. Back in the early 70's I installed factory stripes. the drivers side strip already had the fuel opening in it. So if you would install it that low it would not fit the contour of the wheel opening. One thing to remember when you install the stripes is the top of the stripe is even with the top of the handle. This positions the stripe at the correct height where is does notinterfere with the wheel opening.

Many of the after market stripes are cut to wide. Also there is a left and right stripe the upper and lower stripes are different widths and contours at the back they look like they should get switched but they don't. The fuel opening always would place the OEM stripes in the correct position. The first picture is a picture of a Demon on Mr Norms lot in 1971. Note the gas cap handle is stripe color. The front of the stripe is positioned with the bottom of the upper stripe on the body line. The rear should be the opposite. The top of the bottom stripe goes on the line . There is a top and a bottom stripe and there position on the correct side is cridical. I only saw one Demon at Carlisle last year with them correct and that was an original paint car in the show field.

Why do owners take all that time to build a car only to ruin their beautiful work with stripe installation with no research.

Now as it always goes. I do expect Demon owners with theirs on wrong to criticize me. That's much easier than correcting their stripes. I am in no way judging anyone's car I am just trying to inform those doing new builds. Lets make them how they were. if you say who cares it doesn't matter then paint them on. Just look at the black Demon above.

There was never a decal on the fuel cap, They were painted. White were gloss , Black were gloss or Matt black depending what stripe. Martin senior "black out" Paint reflect the same and looks the same as the textured stripe. I used it on my Duster and the paint matched the stripe perfect

Not many venders make the correct stripes or mark them left and right. I have tons of measurements from back then on original cars to prove myself. Who Cares? I Do Steve

Also the tail stripe from 71-72 are different and also positioned different. I have the offset measurements for 71. The 72's are squared and no decal flag.
