Converting to '68 style windshield gasket

For the past few nights I cleaned up the windshield channel. Here's a picture of the worst of it, before and after. I filled the spot with dura glass, cleaned, sanded and primed the whole channel. For the record, I tried to get a Precision gasket and it was delayed 3 times, Steele Rubber gasket arrived in 4 business days.

Excellent work! I'm getting ready to go through this on my 66 Dart. Do you plan on squirtin some paint on the window channels before installing the glass, or is primer good enough to install the glass, then just mask the glass when the body is painted. That's a decision I've been mulling over.
