Magnum oil filter block plate - source?
Here is a Magnum plate, with the large round gasket stuck to it, placed onto an early LA block.
First picture the plate is bottomed out on the center mount boss of the block but the gasket is around 1/8” or so away from the gasket surface of the block.
Second picture shows I am able to push in one side of the gasket area of the plate and cause it to tilt away on the other side. This would not happen if the plate was sitting flat on the gasket area as it should.
If any plate on any block touches the center boss before the gasket surface it will leak.
