Could be a cracked hub on your harmonic balancer. I had one that cracked in the keyway and sounded like a rod knock.

This is a OEM Clutch Fork Boot #3515300. I don't remember what this came out of, and my research shows it all over the place, from 1961 to 1992 cars and trucks. It is in good condition with no damage, but as you can see it needs a cleanup. $15.00. Local pickup, or buyer pays shipping.

Do you have any large barge C bodies in the back 40? A lot of them came with power seats that you could rob the tracks and electrical stuff from. Might be a good idea to wire it up on a relay when you do it.
