    A good option but possibly a bit expensive. But then any option for an OD gear is going to hit the wallet. Anything that requires cutting the floor is a big pain as the carpet then requires replacement with a custom piece.

    Stock cam, heavily ported head, stock valves. I may have been running a slant 2bbl Holley at the time. No power steering, not running the dealer installed AC. 70 with the AC on was 16.7.

    That I do not know. A manual maybe. Then there is a kit to install a GM 200 4R which is fairly narrow. The Grand National racers used them as that is what came behind the turbo V6, and they had them standing up to the 600+HP V6 engines.

    The LA 318 and especially the 1970's version had a carrot up its arse in the form of the camshaft.     273 calls for 85 pnds torque, i found if you torque above that, it distorts the block deck. my 340 i use 80 # torque , also i use moly lube on bolts, also i torque in steps, 40, 50 50 70, 80. i ran into this issue long time ago.. i have customer, runs a 340 @ 10.65 cr, i torque heads at 85...
