Numbers matching 340 automatic. I have the fender tag but no build sheet. Solid body from SC but needs minor work. Interior is all there and all GTS OEM trim is there. Just don't have the time to finish it. I'm interested in a newer Challenger Hemi. Or possibly a 66, 67 Coronet or Satellite...

Builders: Square engine, Over Square, or Under Square for you?

I've always preferred either square or over square. Under square is like a high torque truck motor. Pontiac is a good example. lol

Do you think that might have been the reason why headlights were flickering? When I pulled it out the red wire was still touching the connector - I'm so glad I checked... I had already gotten a new switch a while ago, but I just ordered a new connector as well.

    69 Barracuda Trunk Lock

Does the lock go on the outside of the tail trim panel or before panel is installed? I already put the panel back on (what a pain) and really don't want to dismantle it again. The cylinder isn't long enough to capture the clip. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Builders: Square engine, Over Square, or Under Square for you?

Heads Up 1/4 mile Racing. 400 C.I. is the target +/- 3 cubes for all cars. How would you like to get there in YOUR perfect world? What would be your factors in choosing? Or would you build it the same regardless? Truck Pulls, would it change your selection? Family sedan and fuel mileage. ??

    360 vs 383

I've heard that was the reason. Unleaded fuel would require lower compression, and the extra cubes would help offset it. The timing roughly coincides with the other changes made to accommodate unleaded, ie. hardened valve seats.

    360 vs 383

Probably to have a competitor cid wise with ford and chevs offerings around the same size and probably also distance it from the 360 more.

    MV72 oil pump plug

(copied from a rebuild posting) Obtain a new 5/8″ deep steel expansion plug Sealed Power 3813052 or similar. Note that the Mopar Performance high-pressure spring kit P3690944 used to include a new plug but no longer does even if the online image shows a plug. The above 5/8 plug is not as deep as...

    Finally!

can you weld? if so mark a straight line along the axle tube each side (for alignment). then cut out the required amount in the middle of each tube. now clamp the end sections to the centre (aligning the straight line) between 2 pieces of angle iron. this will hold the tube dead straight while...

    Oil additives

We went there because he was wondering why I was even using them. It changed what I used for an oil ring. You are putting at least double the oil on the cylinder walls because oil is going to the rods full time rather than just half the time. IIRC I ended up with a 15 pound oil ring rather...

    360 vs 383

I believe they actually wanted to standardize the BB bore. 4.32 like the 440. That would have made the 383 a 396 which would have been awesome to compete with the Chevy guys. However, marketing thought 400 sounded better so 4.34 bore it was. But just maybe somebody on the inside messed up...

    Oil additives

I think he does but he was a tribologist first. I think that’s his favorite thing. Plus he owns the company that does the oil testing. I’m going to order several test kits up before my junker hits the pump so I can keep track of what’s going on and see how far the oil I use will go before it...

Maybe they wanted a few extra cubes in an attempt to make up for the drop in compresion?

Ford Clevelands saw 9000 plus RPM on the back stretch at Talladega and they all had cast cranks.

    360 vs 383

I wonder why the exact reason(s) they ditched the 383 and went to the 400? I know the petro embargo and all, but the 400 wasn't about mpg. I can't imagine they thought it would be better for the EPA. Why?
