Are there any experienced beer drinkers here?

I enjoyed most of them for years but preferred European style beer. My Buddy said you only taste the first one and can get used to anything. He was right because when i started drinking cheap beer i hated it, but after a few weeks it was my favourite. I eventually just got tired of buying it...

FRAUD ALERT. Let me give you a warning.

Late to this post and I don't condone this type of thing but he may have just used it as a generic illustration. Has anybody lost any money ?

Was Your First Job at Minimum Wage?

Pumpin' gas around 1965 part time as a teenager and can't remember what i was paid? First 40 hour week job was in the summer of 1969. 80 cents an hour / $32.00 per week in the Bata Shoe Factory.

    Are you a picky eater

My buddy says that all the time. When it comes to eating something very tasty but unhealthy.

    Are you a picky eater

Yup...but not what you would think. I try to avoid sugars and unhealthy snacks. Try to eat for nutrition. If you eat for pleasure a lot of it will be unhealthy and you'll overeat. Most would find my diet bland or awful but i'm used to it now so it's normal for me.

    The ever-so desireable 308 Heads

Some guys like the idea of original mopar parts. In the Mopar performance manuals Larry Sheppard says the 308's are the best flowing stock heads. Yup...i'm an old guy.

    340 cam change

I wasn't being conservative. Whenever a cam is discussed everyone automatically thinks quarter mile. In his post he said he is not racing. I was thinking lo compression 340 strictly on the street that will boil the tires and "pull stumps"! from 1000 rpm up.

    340 cam change

RLF...how is the low end torque with that crane cam and 2.94's....and what size rear tires? I have installed 2.94 rear gears in my new project but it will be some time before it's finished. After using 3.23, 3.55 and 3.91's i prefer the 3.23's but i'm thinking the 2.94's may be even better.

    340 cam change

i think more than one have found the old melling 340 replacement cam is a stump puller at .429/ .444 lift with 204/214 duration @ .050. It is a bit smaller than the stock 340 which was .429/.444 lift with 210/220 duration. It will break the tires loose even at low speeds with 21570R14's and 3.23...

HAS ANYONE ELSE READ ABOUT THIS?

yup...i know everybody involved personally, as does everyone in our car community. It would be unfair for me to comment without knowing 100% of the facts.

    340 cam change

well...with the info you don't know it's like going to the doctor and saying "i've got a pain" With 22 initial and 38 total and no detonation sounds like low compression. If that is the case none of the cams suggested will provide " Stump Pullin" Low compression will require low duration with...

    Asking for Opinions

Man...you would not believe the comments i have gotten on my cars over the years. I usually say thanks, a lot of guys have told me that and i think i'll change that this winter. They walk away proud knowing they helped me see things the way they should be.

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

Lo compression 340, whiplash cam and 3.23 gears runs 13.20 in the quarter mile. ...that's hard to believe.

    Your best gravy secrets

Dartindano has it. It will only taste as good as your drippings unless you are adding other flavours.

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

Nobody hates 318's. They just can't make much power on a small budget. The same small budget can make good power with a 360.

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

Here's a 9:1 350 (I know) with a small xe 256 cam that should be a little less torque than a similarly prepped 360. Look at the torque at 2500 or 3000. They are good lo rpm numbers and the cam i would recommend for the street or the Xe262. Just don't put 27560R15's on the rear no matter how bad...

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

273's graph showing the 318 mods shows the 318's basic problem...lack of lo end hp and torque which is what you need for the street. You will be far happier with the 360.

    duster grille blackout

i've seen lots of original cars and it was flat black but a semi gloss is easier to clean if you are fussy. It's a personal thing to most, but colour showing through can obscure a classic looking grill. That's why the factory painted it. And it was not done with care if you want it to look original.

    Horsepower Estimate?

That's great info with actual results! My Torker was on a stock 340 and worked just fine. Stock heads stall out around .485 lift at about 190 - 200 cfm so it looks like a good match... but these are figures i have only read. When racers post with real info it is helpful for sure. I have no...

    Horsepower Estimate?

I think most call the original Torker a doorstop as well that being a single plane would rob lo rpm torque.I ran one in a stock 340 and it would blow the tires out easily at lo rpm and pull fine from idle up. Anybody can say anything on the internet and most mean well, but are often repeating...

    Horsepower Estimate?

273's dyno test shows a stock 340 at 280hp @5100 rpm. Factory rating was 275 hp If you compare your build to these figures and adjust for your builds' differances you should be pretty close to your actual number.

Well...you have responses from young guys, old guys, dynomometers, racers, magazine arcticles and the ratings the factory provided. I'm betting you're having a tough time deciding what your number might be.
