    motor mount Q

Hey Robert....I just noticed something I did wrong on the passenger side mount. I put it in front of the block ears instead of behind them like it should be! :BangHead: That's what I get for getting in a hurry....lol. Maybe lift your motor up just a bit, to where the insulators barely clear...

Got a new Truck (new to me)

Are you going to add a trailer brake controller with it? I've had a Tekonsha Prodigy in my Dodge diesel for 20 years and never had a split second of trouble with it. Your hitch turned out great!

    motor mount Q

I stuck the mounts on to take the pics for Robert, but I will usually leave one insulator loose as a goose during install and then tighten stuff up where it needs to be when everything fits where it's supposed to. B&E bodies are no problem, but 64-72 A bodies and D series trucks are a pain in...

    spring pad location

It's probably a 62-63 B body housing. If you have the axles from it, check them in the rearend chunk you plan to use to see if it has the same axle splines as whatever axles you're going to use, before you go to the trouble of putting the housing in the car. That housing would have come with the...

    Nope of the day

My wife's sister and brother-in-law have a place on Hartwell. We visited a few years ago and were just out tooling around on jet skis. We stopped to jump in and cool off, and I saw a plastic water bottle bobbing up and down in the water. Pulled it up and it was a mini jug line, but had a Gar...

    Vin letters question.

Do you have to convert them to right hand drive or can you leave them as is? Seems like I remember someone on Moparts.com, who was either in NZ or AUS buying a USA car and having to switch it to right hand drive. That was 20 or so years ago though. Looks like you got a nice Dart to fix, so hope...

Is the housing 52 5/8 inches flange to flange where the axles bolt in? That's factory A body 8 3/4 length. Someone may have moved the spring perches out a half inch on each side to put that rearend in a B body sometime in the last 60 or so years. What's weird is, I have one with that exact same...

    Filler tube replacement 65 Barracuda

True, but if you figure out how to snake it out of there, you'll know how to put a new one back in. :)

Maybe so....it's only got two ways it can go. I'll find out when I gut it out to paint it.

    Filler tube replacement 65 Barracuda

You know.....I've had a half dozen or more 64-65 Barracudas and never had to take the fuel filler pipe out. How the heck do you get it out? Twist it and work it towards the front of the car, up over the wheelhouse until the bottom end clears the hole in the side panel?

    Removing push button auto controls.

I took these snap ring pliers and checked to see if it will remove the nuts on the wipers and lights of my 65 Barracuda. The tips don’t fit all the way into the little slots in the nuts, but it grips them tight enough to remove the nuts. These came from Northern Tool, but Harbor Freight may have...

    Monthly internet connection costs. Question?

That's great Jim. You've probably already done it, but make sure you have unlimited data usage on your cell phone so you don't get a big whopping phone bill from running over your data limit.

    Removing push button auto controls.

I've used needle nosed pliers to remove the headlight switch and wiper switch bezels on later stuff, but there were tools the dealerships used to remove them. Does yours look like the one in the picture in post # 7 above? If it does, maybe some snap ring pliers would work in the holes to move it.

    Removing push button auto controls.

To get the headlight knob out, you have to reach up behind the dash and feel around on the headlight switch until you find the pin to push. It will kind of feel like the head of a rivet sticking up about 1/8 of an inch. Like was mentioned above, it is spring loaded...so it moves in and out of...

    New tool. CAT D6B

Dang....dozers must be the new rage, lol. There's a guy on Moparts, who lives in Texas that just got a big ol front end loader for free! https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/3232584/got-a-free-caterpillar-977-now-what.html#Post3232584

    Long Tube Header Bolts

If you use studs in the end bolt holes, instead of bolts....you won't have to drain the radiator every time you have to replace header gaskets.

Where can I buy a reliable remanufactured 318 for 1971 Duster?

Yep, intake comes off without affecting the heads. You might have to remove the valve covers, and it would most definitely be easier to put the intake back on with the valve covers off. The corners, both front and back need a little extra Ultra Black sealer.

    New Project

I think the steering box/frame brace may be factory, or an add on because of a recall or something. It looks just like the one on my truck. I had my wife wiggle the steering wheel back and forth with the engine running so I could look to see where the play was in my steering. My steering box was...

    65 Barracuda daily driver

That's bound to have been fun! How was sleeping in the car? I've wondered if it would be hard to do on a road trip. I'm 6' and 225, so I'd probably get tired of it pretty quick at my age...lol.

    Spring perch pics

Edit for correction. The original perches still on the housing measure 33/64 in the center hole, NOT 13/64 as I originally stated. I was trying to keep too many numbers in my head to get back to the house from the garage, so I could post easier on the laptop instead of my phone. :realcrazy:

    Spring perch pics

Y'all are exactly right!! I was trying to keep too many numbers in my head and posted the wrong one for the originals, which I will go back and edit now. I went out and measured the original again and it is 33/64. That's the half way good one....the other one is toast! Sorry for the mix up...

    Spring perch pics

I said the originals measured 13/64, if you look at the first post again. It's barely big enough for a 1/2" drill bit to fit the hole on the original that is still on the housing....but wallowed out from too many years of side stepping the clutch. The perches are on an A body 8 3/4...

    Spring perch pics

I like the Moroso ones after looking at them when @Icetech mentioned them a bit ago. If I were putting them in something besides a run of the mill street car, I would fix the ends to mimic the MP ones so they would be less prone to break.

    Spring perch pics

Are they curved up at the ends like the factory ones? Wouldn't matter in my putt around 65 Barracuda, but if you put perches without the ends being somewhat boxed by the curved up ends, a high HP car will wad them up in short order.

    Spring perch pics

Just posting what my ultra high dollar Harbor Freight digital calipers said. Dana asked for a pic of the new ones vs old, and there it is. The hole in the old one still on the housing may be out of whack. Holes in both old perches are wallowed out and the one above is the best one. I plan on...

    Spring perch pics

@Dana67Dart Here is a pic you requested in another thread the other day. Center hole in the new MP spring perches measures 11/16. Hole in the originals measures 33/64, and the center stud of some E body springs I have laying around has an OD of 1/2”. Hope this helps. You need to make some...
