I’m not paying 6k. Will go without. Considering going without any gasket then. This will be on a rebuild. Was contemplating using a copper coat spray ( or even a copper silicone / rtv ) but concerned about the high temps at engine break in. Anyone done this? What was your experience? One option...

Thanks for the replies. I am thinking I am going to just run it as is. Engine run temps are good and I have seen some people even drill a small hole in the thermostat for other reasons without adverse effects

Maybe my thermostat housing has a cavity for the thermostat that is is larger than it needs to be… thought it was an aftermarket one that was true to the original specs/sizes.

I switched to Real Gasket for thermostat housing and valve cover gaskets. Like them and seal well. Only oddity I found was the thermostat rattles around loose in the housing. Think this is the result of the Real Gasket thickness… or is that normal for std gaskets too?
