Stolen A-Bodies From CA High Desert

The easiest, but bravest, crime to commit is in broad daylight. If people see something like this happening, there is very little chance it would be questioned, unless they are or know the owner. It would appear to be a legitimate process. "Nobody would be that brave" is the common assumption.

Stolen A-Bodies From CA High Desert

This is Pearblossom, the nearest thing even remotely close to an industrial/warehouse complex is probably 15 miles away in Palmdale, as i mentioned earlier, a desolate desert community of 2435 people. Pearblossom (what looks like complex is the Los Angeles Aqueduct pumping station and solar...

    Lifter failure

In my shop I try NOT to build anything flat tappet. But when I do, I have a tobin-arp tappet grinder and I reface EVERY lifter that gets installed. I also save all the flat tappets I pull from core engines. The surface finish and radius is terrible on a bunch of the new ones right out of the box

    K-frame alignment?

There used to be a tight, close tolerance hole and a tight tolerance slot so the K frame would self align. If some one opened up that tight hole, all bets are off. At this point, leave the 4 bolts loose, get your suspension lined up, and tighten the K frame bolts. I'm afraid that is the best...

Cost for labor on stroker build?

I have discovered the ignore feature is a great thing! Not interested in a guy who doesn't own a car or build engines, giving out advice on a car forum. Dan the man with no car

    K-frame alignment?

They were Doug's headers but yeah, that was just the start of this mess. It's odd that nobody else seems to have had this problem, which led me to think it would just be an unbolt/rebolt operation. Nope. I learned many lessons in this ordeal, the most important being to not take the k-frame...

Stolen A-Bodies From CA High Desert

I'm going to ask the obvious...there IS a police report correct? Having those corrected VINs (and descriptions / pictures) will help in (hopefully) getting these back and prosecution happening.

    Lifter failure

Just did my 440 for my wagon. I was worried about lifters. I bought the ones for 300.00. They are the ones that have the little hole in the bottom to oil the cam. Not saying that I may have a problem it the future but at this time, I have some piece of mind that cam/lifters will be ok.

    UTG vs DDG

I don’t know about DDG, but anything UT is involved with is a bullshit deal. Just like the insanity when he “beat” the dude with the white truck. I forget his name. Andy I think. Anyway, if you want me to believe the results were on the level then that would mean Andy is clueless. He isn’t...

    Leakdown test on rebuilt engine

STEVE: DO NOT DO THIS OLD HOME REMEDY,WHATEVER ELSE YOU DO. The local "know-it-all" had that problem, years ago. Some old timer told him to put a little Comet in the cylinders and it would help seat the rings. This k-i-a decided if a little will do a little good, a lot will do a lot of good. He...
