They are J heads... And J heads showed up on 340's starting in 1970... 69 340 = X heads 70 340 = J heads... 70 & 71 340 J heads had 2.02 intakes and 1.60 exhaust same as J heads... Hell T/A's & AAR's had J heads... With relocated pushrod holes...

Honestly I lean toward the rear torsion bar anchor crossmember being bent but I'm willing to look elsewhere...

Bad Situation.... Cheap storage is nice, till it's not.... Somebody had to see something, just didn't know what they were seeing.... Is there any kind of known time frame or could it be a window of multiple weeks ?
Rented one if their trailers once... Lost a tire less than twenty miles into the drive... Took them three hours to get someone out to change it....

Bilsteins are really good, not cheap but they ride good, handle good & they keep doing it, I have them on five cars, they don't fail in 30K miles like many brands on the market.. They are worth the price...
When you run the tight end of the spec it tends to cause shift overlap, personally I'd look at adding another clutch and another steel... Might need a thinner pressure plate to do it but more clutches never hurts....

Forward clutch is applied in high gear... Not first or second.... If you apply the forward clutch & the front band at the same time bad things happen....
Try increasing the length of the kickdown rod 8MM...
What's the new fluid look/smell like? If it's slipping bad it could already be burnt...
What are you using for kickdown linkage? Try adding pressure...

Rear clutch is applied in all forward gears, if it were slipping you should notice it in high gear... OD direct clutch is backed up by the OD sprag so I doubt that's...
Who built the 46RH? They can handle a lot more that 300 HP when built correctly... Even bone stock they would handle 300 HP for a heck of a lot longer than 15 miles.... Find a better builder & keep the 46 RH....
I've seen to many trailer axles with the brakes full of grease....Bearing Buddies are a disaster waiting to happen... Take the damn things apart every few years clean & repack... And don't crank the bearings down to tight.... Like the O/P stated, "so I tightened them until the brake drum...
